The Arms Hotel Lobby, Tuesday

Bypassing Gunther's pure insanity without nary a glance, Jeff was a man with a mission. Certainly, this mission mostly had to involve his currently lamentable task of keeping the hotel occupied, but the truth was he was trying to prepare for an invasion.

Of Jamies. With warm Squishies.

He may have convinced himself of the problem a little overmuch while trying to cheer up Turtle on the radio the previous night.

Somewhere in the process, he may have stolen a wall off one of the gingerbread casinos.

He'd entirely forgotten about the specials again.

It won't end well.

Mary showed up wearing one a big, baggy UNLV sweatshirt and carrying a wrapped box with a bow. "Merry Christmas, Jeff! I got you a present," she said with a grin.

Her first instinct had been to buy Jeff a blindfold, but instead she went with a nice silk tie that could also double as a blindfold.

Jeff's head shot up. "Are you Jamie?!" he demanded, before ascertaining with his own eyes that it was not, in fact, Jamie (even if the sudden visual lack of breasts was mildly befuddling), he stammered on, "Not that you look like a Jamie! I imagine a Jamie would look entirely different."

"Yeah, I imagine so," said Mary. "By the way, nice job on the radio last night." There hadn't been any mentions of breasts, for which Mary was grateful.

The lack of breast-mentions was mostly to be blamed on the fact Turtle wouldn't let him near the Mary notes. "I tried," Jeff said, "But there was just too much Jamie."

Mary had to remember to thank Turtle. "I suppose you're staying in Fandom for the holidays?" she guessed. Mary didn't think that Jeff would willingly go home.

He thought up a long, involving answer detailing his plans to stay on Fandom and avoid his mother, possibly by-- "I was thinking about using gingerbread Las Vegas to block off the causeway," Jeff blurted. "I'm afraid my mother may be able to leap the distance, but it's worth an attempt."

"She could just eat her way through," Mary pointed out. "But maybe you'll get lucky and the causeway won't let her through."

"Maybe I should bribe the causeway." Jeff looked a lot like the way a sad, desperate puppy would look if it was a teenage boy with raging hormones and weird hair.

"How would you do that?" asked Mary, amused.

"...Gingerbread?" Jeff managed, sounding a little strangled.

"There's a start," said Mary. "I'd add marshmallows and chocolate. Or maybe you get could Gunther to build a gingerbread barricade! He's into that sort of thing."

"Could you talk to Gunther about that?" Oh, sweater or no sweater, Jeff was still having trouble about where to look. "I think he may a bit upset."

You know. About the wall.

Mary glanced over at Gunther, who was trying to figure out what happened to his gingerbread Stardust. "I'll see what I can do," she promised.

Jaye got to the hotel, heading straight to the first person she saw and asking, "You check me in, right?"

Mary happened to be passing through the lobby on the way from her office to the elevators. She saw Jaye waiting to check in, and she saw Jeff... Well, it was Jeff. Who knows what he was doing?

"Hi there, welcome to the Arms. Are you the one who called in a reservation earlier?" she asked.

"That'd be me," Jaye said. "I know you've all been waiting in anticipation."

Mary chuckled. "Well, it's been pretty slow around here lately so I was happy to see someone checking in," she said. "Why don't you sign the guest register and I'll get you the key for room 602."

Jaye scribbled something that might have resembled her name, examined it, and dotted an invisible I, just to add an air of mystery.

"Here's your key," said Mary. "There's room service 24 hours a day, but just don't mention anything about Wolfgang Puck to our chef or he'll go berserk. Hope you have a pleasant stay in Fandom!"

"I definitely will," she said, wondering if she could leave notes to the chef signed Wolfgang Puck.

And wander straight into gingerbread Las Vegas, where a dog is playing Godzilla.

May be on and offish again as I do work and school stuff, but I'm around.
