Trooper Station: Wednesday

Anyone walking into the station would probably note that Dale is sitting on top of his desk cross-legged in a meditative pose.

Well... meditative if you count the fact that he's talking to his tape recorder. Again.

"Diane, it is Wednesday morning approximately 9:25 am. Once again we appear to have someone on the island attacking innocent people. The felon goes by the name Angelus. If memory serves me correctly 'Angelus' is a devotion used in the Catholic church in memory of the Incarnation in Christianity. Several people have been brutally attacked and one girl is currently in the hospital, Miss Willow Rosenberg. If you remember Diane, Miss Rosenberg was one of the first people to greet me here in Fandom as well as giving me a lovely fruit basket which contained six bananas, five apples, a pineapple and a tin of cookies. I've sent an order of flowers over to the hospital along with a card personally written to me. Remind me to tell you how much that was.

We've increased the amount of troops to help patrol the streets. Our only hope is that we can catch the monster before someone else can get hurt. My only regret is that in all the disaster scenarios that Detective Montoya and I had worked on, not one of them dealt with a single maniac preying on our town. I assure you that will not be the case the next time this happens."

Dale clicked off the recorder and hopped down off his desk giving his legs a little stretch.

Right before clicking the recorder back on again.

"Diane, it struck me again earlier this morning... there are two things that continue to trouble me. And I'm not just speaking as an officer of the law but also as a human being: What really happened to Jimmy Hoffa and how exactly was the Gambino organization involved?"

The troopers were either too busy or too used to Dale to notice his antics.

You know, all that talk about a case didn't mean Renee wanted to deal with another sick bastard serial killer. Or, attempted serial killer at least.

So when she set the early Christmas present (http://images.jupiterimages.com/common/detail/64/82/23038264.jpg) down on Cooper's desk, she did so with certain amount of somberness.

Wouldn't even have brought them in if they hadn't been perishable.

Renee looked from the near perfect pastries to Cooper. "If I made them, they'd be less nice looking. Bought them on the mainland yesterday."

"Call it a Christmas present," Renee said, shaking her head at his reaction, but still smiling faintly.

Renee smirked it it, taking the coffee from him anyway.

"I'll make sure to brew some for us later."

[identity profile] not-an-answer.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Putting the coffee away in her desk, Renee paused at the question. Just for a moment before she carried on as normal. "Don't really celebrate it much."

[identity profile] not-an-answer.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Renee took a seat at her desk, carefully schooling her face to a concentration as she leafed through the papers there. "The holidays do bring out the crazies."

[identity profile] not-an-answer.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"My experience with these types, there isn't much you can plan for. Just pray that they screw up soon," Renee said, rubbing her forehead. "And up patrols looking for them. Never know if a uniform will run across the perp."

Evening...

The doors to the station were kicked open and a girl with multi-colored hair walked into the room with a man over her shoulder.

She dropped the man on his head in front of the troopers and let him fall to the ground.

"You guys were looking for a psychotic vampire that was attacking everyone?"

Mel gestured to Angelus's unconscious body.

"Merry fucking Christmas."

Renee rushed over to the scene as soon as the girl came through the door.

Okay, this hadn't quite been expected, but... better that letting him hurt someone else.

"Vampire?" She asked, unhooking the catch on the holster at her hip. "Lemme guess, cuffs are gonna just be a waste of time."

"I'd go with shackles. Big rutting ones," Mel stretching her neck. "He's not waking up any time soon. Just shove him in a cell with no windows."

Renee nodded, waving a few of the troopers over to pick up the body.

"It's in the basement, so that shouldn't be a problem, kid." Renee, of course, kept her gun out and ready just in case the girl was wrong about him being out.

She looked Mel over. "I guess I should just be glad you're not in a mask."

Mel gave her a slight look of "WTF?" at the comment. "Why? Is it Halloween?"

"Nevermind," Renee said, shaking her head as a few of the troopers picked up Angelus to take to a cell downstairs. "Inside joke, I guess."

She nodded toward her desk, snagging the coffee to pour for the kid. "Wanna tell me what happened?"

"He was trying to make a snack out of a girl," Mel said. "I threw a chunk of concrete at his head. Then I kicked him the nuts and zapped him in the head."

"Good," Renee said with a small evil smirk.

Offering the coffee, She nodded, taking notes mentally. "The girl safe? At the clinic?"

"She was running away too fast for me to tell," Mel said with a shrug. "So that's probably a good sign. Need help dragging this jerk into a cell?"

Re: Evening...

Ralph looked over hopefully at that, but Renee shook her head. "The troopers can handle it."

Ralph? So not happy to be hauling a psychotic vampire downstairs. He better get pie for this.

She sighed at the running away thing. And made a not to find out who it was. "I should thank you for this, but mostly I'd like to yell for going off an pulling a stupid stunt."

Re: Evening...

[identity profile] cantjossme.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Mel bit back her initial response. "I'm a slayer," she said with a good deal of restraint. "Kinda my job to track down the vampires and demons and whatever else lurks in the night."

"Yeah, I'm sure." Renee shook her head and lit up a cigarette. No smoking inside? Yeah, not gonna happen tonight. "I didn't say I was going to, just that I want to. Christ, kid, we're here to help with this crap too, you know?"
