Turtle & Canary; Thursday [12/20]

Today was Sokka's first day at Turtle & Canary, and he knew exactly what he was going to do. He got there early and searched the back of the store until he found the shelf where Turtle hid the good Squishy flavors. Oooh, today was going to be a good day.

He was wearing his spiffy post office hat, but to avoid any confusion among his loyal customers he'd duct-taped little plastic turtles and parakeets to it. (He couldn't find canaries.) And it didn't take him long to realize the problem inherent in keeping him in the same room as the SquishyBot all day long -- unless he got around to asking Turtle about free Squishies for employees, he'd probably lose money by working here.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Lemon-dill Salmon, Bread Pudding, Red

Turtle & Canary was open.

He's not quite as moddable as Gladys, but definitely still there for all your wildest dreams and desires.

Heaven is your fourteenth Salmon Squishy. And getting Apu to man the register while you run to the bathroom.

A.J. came in with a light, green-hair induced panic. "Okay, dude, I need, like, the most anti-color-treatment shampoo known to mankind...."

Sokka stared at his hair. And started snickering. "I dunno -- the green looks good on you."

A.J. sighed and, before he knew it, he had slouched over the counter in desperation. "Yeah, right. And I just remembered that it's bleached, and so all washing its going to do is maybe tone the green down a little. Damn it..."

"Riiiiight," Sokka replied, because that hadn't made much sense to him. "Uh. Hair care products are over" -- he cast his eyes over A.J.'s shoulder at Apu, who threw up his hands in frustration and pointed -- "Over there. We might have super magic Fandom stuff? I don't know what kind of shampoo Turtle stocks."

"Super magic Fandom shampoo?" A.J. asked lifting his head with a hopeful arch of his eye brow. "So, if, like, it really did take care of it, I would...would you say, if you guys had it, that is, if I were to use it and it fixed it and then someone, let's say someone who could very easily kick my ass, wondered why my hair was back to normal, I could get away with just shrugging and saying, 'I dunno, I only washed it,' thus avoiding my untimely death?"

"Well, the first question is, do we have it, and the answer is, I don't know. I just made it up five seconds ago. BUT." He knew what Turtle's response to A.J.'s question would be, and tried to do his best to sell it. "But I think if we had it, and it worked, you'd be practically honor-bound to buy a bottle for this other person. That's only fair, right?"

A.J.'s head tilted. "Why would I need to buy one for the other person?"

After all, the blue in Ino's hair had to practically be gone by now.

Sokka blinked, confused. "Isn't that why they were going to beat you up? Because their hair is green, too?"

He tried again, from a different angle. "...Besides, it'd make a good Christmas present?"

A.J. took a brief second to consider what Ino might think of that as a present and, to be completely honest, it was way too amusing to pass up. "Maybe," he said, grinning, "and, no, she'd beat me up because this," he pointed to his head, "is her masterpiece. And she has probably got the shortest temper I've ever seen."

"Uh huh, uh huh," Sokka nodded. "Except it's not a masterpiece, it's GREEN. ...It wasn't Rikku, was it? Her temper's not really that bad."

"Exactly, and, uh, no, it wasn't Rikku," A.J. chuckled a little. "I don't think I really know Rikku that well. And I would say who it was, but, again, the fear. It is strong."

Why am I not in bed right now? I should be in bed right now.
