Our Lady of Fandom, Friday all day

Gabriel had tried to avoid people over Christmas. If they tried to be cheerful it was just to make up for the rest of the year. Instead he had caught a few mice and enjoyed watching the cat play with them. It seemed like they might have something in common after all.

[The church is open]

Feeling very much at peace after his morning of meditation, Karal had gone back to the dorms to collect two parcels.

Large, awkward parcels, and he was struggling as he reached the church. "Gabriel," he called hopefully. "Are you there?"

"Gabriel! And Cat," he added, nodding to them both. Which just meant he dropped both parcels. "Glory! Never mind, no harm done, I hope." He eyed them, then smiled at Gabriel. "These are not Christmas presents, as I wasn't sure how you'd feel about such things. But they are gifts for you."

"Presents, yes." He waved a hand at them, then bent to obediently pat the cat, rubbing behind her ears. "An electric blanket and a heater, so you can stay warm through out the winter!"

"I couldn't think of anywhere else for you to stay that where you'd be happy, so," he shrugged a little, ducking his head and looking truly pleased at the praise, "I thought to make this place more comfortable for you."

Karal laughed. "You are a such a cat," he told her, dangling a bit of paper in front of her. "You'll have to take care, ensure you turn them both off when you're not here, or they could start a fire." The woman at the store had been quite adamant. "But they should keep you warm enough."

"It won't. I promise it's safe." He let the paper fall over The Cat's back. "Turning it off is more of a precaution than anything else. And you can make it hotter or cooler depending on the weather."

Karal just shook his head at her. "I also wanted to thank you for coming to the Fire Kindling ceremony," he said quietly.

Karal nodded and turned his attention to the paper and his duty to entertain The Cat, skittering the paper back and forth across the floor in front of her. "Still, you did not have to come. It meant a lot that you did."

"just as well you do," he said back, giving Gabriel a quick grin as he made the paper dance in the air. "Who knows what trouble I'd get into otherwise?"

Karal laughed and surrendered it into her keeping. "I remember. Angels are dangerous. I promise I'll take care to stay out of their path."

[ooc: and I have a nasty headache, so I must away to bed.]
