Groovy Tunes; Friday [ 01/04 ]

So, Chad didn't come in to open the store and work his shift until later, but he figured meeting his new little sis and some other people was a viable excuse for tardiness. Of course, this was Chad assuming that Melody even ever noticed any of this stuff, or was bothered by it, which, despite the track record that she didn't and he was still probably the most dedicated employee in this store's whole history, it was still a deep-seeded concern.

Either way, Groovy Tunes was open. The kittens were playing Chase the CD and the CD player was playing some J-Rock.

"Chad?" Charlie had a small iTunes card to give Chad as a late Christmas present, among other things. "Hey. Happy Friday!"

"A very late Christmas gift, and, bye." Charlie gave him the card and then waved one hand very solemnly. "I'm out of here in a couple hours, back to New York. I wasn't sure you knew."

"Yeah." She shoved her hands in her pockets, scuffing a foot on the floor. "I'm living with my grandfather again. Which is great. And a cousin I like, and that's okay. My grades need to be better for college, too, so..." Charlie shrugged sadly. "I'm gonna miss you guys, though."

"Write? I'm going to keep e-mailing people, and sending them stories, and stuff," Charlie said, then held out her arms for a hug. "And tell the kitties I miss them every day."

Charlie grinned, and gave Chad's arms a squeeze. "No problem. Take it easy, okay?"

And on her way out, she knelt down to hug the kittens, one by one, and give them all pats before heading out on her way.

Evie had just come from the hotel, and was on her last good-bye stop. Which was very appropriate, because Chad was one of the very first people she met in Fandom. "Chad!" She stopped and dug a little box with a gold chain inside out for him. "I'm glad I caught you before I left. I shan't have forgiven myself if I missed you."

Evie nodded a little mournfully. "Jonathan's home from the War, and my parents could really use the help with him, he's not handling it well. And, too... the War's going to be over soon. A few more months. Time for me to go, and get back to my own time." She bit her lip, holding out the box. "Here. I saw this and thought of you."

"I know," Evie admitted. "But, well. I wanted to. So there!" She rocked back on her heels. "Besides, I never had the nerve to give it to you for any other Christmas, or birthday. And then I was dating Sokka." She might have blushed just a little, at that. "Still. I shall think of you, sometimes."

"Awww," Evie responded in kind, then blushed, bouncing up on her tippy-toes to give him a kiss good-bye on the cheek. "Good-bye, Chad. Keep well, and I hope to see you sometime in the future!"
