Donut wanted more fruity drinks, dammit. Tuesday was laundry day but he hadn't had the chance to do it yet. So now he was going commando because he didn't want to wear skanky underwear and going commando while wearing that armor caused some chafing. He needed fruity drinks to cope.

"We're closed," Tino said after Donut came in. Technically they were supposed to be open now but Dick hadn't showed up to work. Again.

"But I want a fruity drink!" Donut whined. "Can't you make me one?"

"I'll tell you what, if you open the bar, help the customers and close up at the end of the night then I'll make you a fruity drink," Tino said.

"But...couldn't I just make my own fruity drink then?" Donut asked.

"No, er, it's illegal to make your own fruity drinks in Virginia," said Tino, who could not believe this was actually working. "You have to have someone else make them for you."

"Oh! Well, I wouldn't want to break the law," Donut said. "I guess I'll get to opening the bar then!"

Tino gave Donut a smile and a nod and went to go read the newspaper in the back.

The zombies were playing a lot of Madonna tonight, at Donut's request.

Donut was doing his best Tom-Cruise-in-Cocktail impression as he sang along to "Material Girl". Tino was also there for the modding after he finished reading the newspaper.

Jolee came down to the bar and was surprised to see... Well, pretty much everything about what he was seeing.

"Evening," he said. "It looks like the regular kid didn't make it in tonight, I suppose."

"Nope!" he said. "But the guy reading the newspaper said if I worked here tonight he'd make me a fruity drink!"

"Do you not have any money?" Jolee asked. He wasn't going to object to this treatment even if Donut did have money. The guy seemed to be happy enough about the prospect of the fruity drink that he wasn't going to ruin Tino's fun.

"Depends, what do people use for money here?" Donut asked. "Is it hugs? Cause I've got plenty of those."

Jolee chuckled. "No, son. Not hugs. Although you might want to try to see if the local bank will trade you anything for that. What's your name?"

"Private Franklin Delano Donut," he said. "You can just call me Donut though."

"Private. Well, that would explain the outfit," Jolee said. "Have you ever done bartending work before, Donut?"

"Um, sorta?" Donut said. "I mixed drinks for all the guys at the base but we didn't really have anything to drink. So it was more like finding new ways to make soy sauce taste better."

"Close enough for my tastes," Jolee said. "Well, if Tino likes the job you do tonight, I may consider letting you do it more regularly. For actual pay. In both real money and Tino hugs."

He liked doing this kind of thing to Tino.

"Really! That's great!" Donut ~~squeed~~ said. "I bet Tino is a good hugger."

"Go ahead and check for yourself. It looks to me like he wants one right now," Jolee said.

Old people could be mean sometimes.

If you want to get away from the weirdo in the ~~pink~~ lightish red armor.
