Groovy Tunes, Wednesday [1/16]

Teyla got to the store bright and early to get ready for the day. Today's music was a selection of salsa - if nothing else, the kittens seemed to enjoy watching her dance around.

After the message Melody had left Chad a while ago about the new fellow employee, Chad knew he'd have to stop by and see how Teyla was coming along in the new position. Entering the store to salsa music was a good sign. So was the dancing.

"You're pretty good," he commented, coming in, catching a little but hoping that he didn't catch her off guard.

Teyla turned at the sound of someone else's voice, and looked a bit bashful as she smiled at Chad. "I'm sorry. I did not hear you come in," she said.

Chad shrugged. "Don't worry," he said. "M'sorry for interrupting. See you're part of the Groovy Tunes family now, too, huh?"

"You did not interrupt anything," she assured him. "And yes, Melody was kind enough to offer me a job when I first visited. You work here as well, yes?"

"Mondays and Fridays," Chad said with a nod and a grunt; the corner of his eye caught one of the kittens peeking around one of the shelves at him, as if confused that he'd be here today. And probably wondering if that other kitten without the hair was with him. "Been workin' here for almost ever, it seems, back before it was Groovy Tunes, even. You like it so far?"

"I do," Teyla said, feeling uncharacteristically enthusiastic about the situation. "There is an impressive selection of music in this world. I feel as though I could spend ages listening to everything."

Uh-oh. She'd said the 'm' word. Chad's shoulders straightened, squaring his frame.

"I could make some recommendations for you, if you like. There is a lot; probably a little difficult to know even where to start."

If there seemed to be the faintest bit of eager hope underlying Chad's stoic, rumbling tone...there certainly was.

Even if Teyla hadn't noticed the twinge of hope, that was a very kind offer, and one she didn't see a reason to ignore.

"I would like that very much," she said. "You've been working here so long, you must be an expert by now."

"Was kind of a bit of an expert before I worked here, too," Chad admitted, rubbing the back of his neck a bit sheepishly. "I'm kind of a music nut."

To put it...very lightly.

Teyla could only assume that being a nut was a good thing. "Do you play music yourself, or do you just like to listen to it?" she asked.

"I play," Chad said, nodding. "Bass guitar, and a little acoustic. Used to be in a band. Not in one now, but I'm thinking of starting one."

If he wasn't so damn lazy about it.

"Still, that sounds impressive," Teyla said. "I will have to listen to your band if you form one again."

"You will," Chad nodded in agreement. "You can listen to my old one, too, if you want. We sell the CD here, and there's a store copy somewhere behind the counter..."
