Groovy Tunes, Wednesday [1/23]

It was impossible for Teyla to miss the crates of CDs still scattered around the store when she came in. She hadn't managed to get exposed to Gilbert and Sullivan yet, so she decided it would be best to leave today's musical choice to chance, and blindly picked up the first CD she could grab.

Anyone coming in would find H.M.S. Pinafore on, while Teyla carefully put the crates to good use in helping her reach high spots to dust.

Having tea with Rikku last night had made Triela somewhat nostalgic. When she woke up this morning she had realized that without Claes as a roommate there was no huge collection of classical music CDs to raid. Luckily there was a way to fix that.

When she walked into Groovy Tunes and heard the selected music she smiled slightly and hummed along to "When I Was a Lad" as she begin looking around the store trying to get her bearings.

It was pretty obvious that shopping wasn't something Triela had a lot of experience with.

Teyla turned when she heard the door open, and carefully stepped down from her crate to greet the girl. "Hello," she said. "Can I help you find something?"

"I hope so," Triela grinned. "I'm looking for a CD of Beethoven's 9th Symphony?"

"Beethoven. That is...classical?" she asked, trying to remember from the crash course she'd given herself in this world's musical genres.

"Yep," she grinned. "Definitely a classic."

"I've found that music to be very relaxing," Teyla said, leading the way to the classical section. "Is this purchase going to be for yourself, or someone else?"

"This one's for me," Triela laughed. "I'm feeling selfish and nostalgic today."

"There is nothing selfish about wanting to have good music," Teyla insisted.

"Do you know Beethoven's 9th?" Triela asked with a hint of excitement.

"I admit, I am not familiar with that particular piece of music," Teyla said. "But I believe I have heard the 5th Symphony."

"I like that one too," she flashed Teyla an approving grin. "But the 9th is special."

Teyla began looking through the Beethoven CDs for one that had the symphonies on it. "More special than the others?" she asked.

"Well," Triela's smile slipped away. "Special to me, at least. I've got a... history with it, I guess."

Teyla's smile got a bit warmer in return. "That that indeed makes it very special," she said.

"If you've got a copy we can play it here. You'll like it."

Teyla flipped through a few more CDs before finally finding one with the symphonies on it. "Here. Will this work?"

"Hmm," Triela looked over the CD, then grinned. "Perfect!"

Teyla grinned as well, and went back to where the CD player was. She stopped Pinafore and put the Beethoven CD in instead, setting it to the 9th Symphony.

Triela's face split into a grin as the symphony started.

"The fourth movement is my favorite," she admitted. "Probably because that's the part you can sing along to."

In late afternoon, Romeo came to visit his roommate with flowers and a sheepish smile. "Teyla?"

Teyla turned away from her dusting and gave her roommate a smile. "Romeo, hello," she said.

Romeo returned the smile. "I wanted to give you these," he said, handing her the daisies. "Which is odd, as I am apologizing for thinking we were ..." he made a vague gesture. "But 'tis all I could think of."

"They are very lovely," she said, taking the flowers. "And you do not need to apologize. You were not yourself this weekend, like many others. Most people, upon discovering we share a room, would have come to the same conclusion."

"Aye, it is odd for a boy and a girl to live so close," Romeo said, feeling he was back on more solid ground. "I have seldom been so pleased to wake up as myself, I will tell you that."

"I am very pleased that you are yourself again as well. Your other self was quite charming though, I must admit."

Romeo made a contemptuous face. "He stole from me, and he ran from a fight," he said. "The idea he shares my face disgusts me."

"You believe it is wrong to run from a fight?" Teyla asked, sounding pleasantly intrigued.

"It is dishonorable," Romeo answered. "If one is challenged, one must respond in kind. You think something different?"
