Pizza Planet, Tues. 1/29

Tom was excited to finally be able to be in charge of a pizza restaurant. OK, perhaps "excited" was inaccurate. "Giddy like a 5-year-old on Christmas" may have come close.

After reassuring his skeptical wife that this was the best step they had taken in their lives and their marriage, he'd arrived bright and early at Fandom to get things ready. For now, things were largely the same as he'd found them, though eventually that could change. He had to resist a sudden urge to bounce as he fired up the pizza ovens, turned on all of the video games, made sure the tables were well-stocked, and dozens of other tasks.

Then, he carried a menu board he'd found to the front of the store, setting it up outside and writing the following carefully.

PIZZA PLANET IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP AND NOW HIRING!
See Tom Scavo- that's the man in the orange shirt- to inquire about employment.
Today's Specials:
Barbecue Chicken Pizza
Greek Pizza (sauceless crust with feta cheese, tomatoes and olives)

He then opened the doors wide and settled in to wait.

Pizza Planet is now open for business.

Tom smiled and waved at the newcomer, fighting down the urge to bounce again.

"Welcome! Welcome to Pizza Planet! I'm the new owner, Tom Scavo. What can I do for you?"

"Michael Guerin", he answered, vaguely startled by the enthusiasm. "Uh... I just came to check out the new place. And you're hiring, it says?"

Jen had been planning to go down to Pizza Planet and kind of . . . stare longingly in at the pizzas she couldn't afford for a little while, but the new sign in the window caught her attention.

Never mind archival Ranger history about T.J. Johnson getting baked into a giant pizza -- it wasn't like Dimitria was around in Fandom, anyway.

She pushed the door open and walked up to the counter.

Mmmmmm, the impending possibility of being able to afford pizza again.

"Morning, sir," Jen said, standing at attention, hands tucked behind her back, out of habit. "I saw the sign that says you're hiring?"

Makoto was trying to get out and do a bit more exploring of the town instead of reclusing around in his room, and so, he was passing by, in his girl-guise, when he noticed the hiring sign. Hmmm.

Well, he could always use the money, right? It wasn't like his father was going to pay for anything after school. So in he wandered.

"Excuse me?" He said, sounding like a girl, "I couldn't help but notice your sign?"

Tom grinned. And bounced. A third potential employee!

"Yes, are you interested in a job, young lady? I'm Tom Scavo, the new owner of this place. I already have people working Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, but I'll still take you any time you're available."

Makoto smiled, "I am interested, Mr. Scavo." He considered the days that had been taken already. "I can work Thursdays and Sundays, if those are good for you?" Pause. "Though, actually, I've already got plans for this Thursday but if that's not a problem for you, any Thursday after that is fine."

Sokka wandered in, bouncing excitedly. "New ownership?!??! Does that mean you're having a sale?"

"A sale?" Tom frowned slightly. "It... slipped my mind to do that, to be honest with you, buddy. I was so excited to have this place, it didn't even occur to me. But I will now! It'll help bring in business!"

Something like a sign proclaiming new ownership was certainly enough to stop Turtle in her tracks on the way to the coffee shop. She halted, blinked, took a second to reorganize the day planner in her head to pencil in a brief detour. She pushed open the doors and called out, "Hello?" as if the fellow she'd never seen before wasn't indication enough of who she was looking for.

Ronan was craving pizza today. Like, seriously craving pizza. Ergo, Pizza Planet! He was, however, intrigued by the sign outside; he loved his work at the clinic, but after giving up his Sunday shift (everything that happened to him seemed to happen on the weekends, so it was just easier than missing it every second week), he had started to consider picking up a shift or two somewhere else, as well.

He smiled as he entered. "Hello," he said. "You must be the new owner."

Tom was busily wiping the counter when the new customer walked in. He smiled, and of course, bounced.
