Mauvaise Chance Office/Lobby, Tuesday 1/29

As usual when the lobby's occupied, there's a Xander behind the counter. The Xander behind the counter today happens to be wearing a birthday present and engaged in an intellectually-challenging game of Dot-Eater-Guy on his laptop. Not that he's a slacker or anything...

Hey, it could be worse. He could be wearing the hat.

[OOC: Open like a thing that is not closed. For the record, the remaining vacancy = one 1-bedroom apartment, should anybody be in need of same.]

Bridge is all about the milling. Only not so much the kind with the grinding of materials. Except for how the mochas he's got in each hand have coffee beans that were ground. But not by him. By someone at the Perk, presumably.

"Hey," Bridge greets Xander, sitting down next to him with a flop that somehow doesn't result in coffee-spillage. He's had practice.

"You have brought me coffee, and thus you get to be my boyfriend for the day," Xander proclaims.

Bridge glances at the coffee, then at Xander, then back at the coffee. "I don't know," he says thoughtfully. "I'd say this coffee is worth more than one day of boyfriendness, myself. Maybe I can find someone who'd be willing to make me a better offer..."

Xander strokes his chin. "Hmm. I could throw in a--" He leans over and whispers something not-for-squirrel-consumption in Bridge's ear.

"Well, now..." Bridge grins. "That's more like it."

"I may not be easy, but I'm reasonable," Xander says with a nod.

"Reasonably pimpin', apparently," Bridge says, glancing at Xander's shirt.

"You....totally just said the word 'pimpin'." A snicker turns into a gigglefit.

"Your shirt said it first!" Bridge points out.

"My shirt is a shirt. Also it came from Faith. You're... you. It's kind of like hearing... Dean the Tick say it."

"Oh really?" Bridge says, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair.

"Well, your antennae don't bobble when you say it, so it's not exactly the same."

"I do not," Bridge says firmly. "Have antennae."

Xander frowns. "Then what're those things on your-- uh, Nevermind."

And yes, this would be Bridge attempting to tilt his head in order to see if there's actually antennae up there. Like Xander totally didn't know this would happen.

"That would be less mean if Fandom didn't actually do stuff like that to people, huh."

"Fandom, and back home too," Bridge points out. "Monster bug bites? Are very bad."

Xander coughs. Yeah, my head almost found that out firsthand, trust me. Or, uh, firstmandible."

"I think staying away from evil bug monsters is part of that whole don't-get-hurt resolution thing," Bridge says firmly.

"It might be kind of physically impossible for me," Xander points out. "It's a thing."

"Willow said it was a *dating* thing," Bridge replies. "You're not dating anyone except me, and I'm not a giant bug monster, ergo, you're fine."

"No, the demon thing is a dating thing. There was a bug guy that didn't want to date me too. ...At least I hope he didn't want to date me." Xander thinks of the assassin who'd dissolved into bugs and gives a little shudder.

G'Kar located the apartment building with *some* ease. He was still growing accustomed to the layout of the island and he’d managed to somehow lose his way. A quick ~~handwavy~~ stop for directions put him back on course.

After his earlier agreement with Turtle (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2461950.html?thread=109869310#t109869310), he’d definitely need more permanent residence than the Arms Hotel. He hoped they still had space left.

"Hey there. Looking for an apartment or just one of the tenan--" Xander got out when the door opened, before he'd really looked up. Then he blinked. But just the once. "Er. Hi."

“Hello,” G’Kar greeted in return. “I’m actually here to inquire about an apartment. Do you still have one available?”

Xander nodded, allowing himself one more blink not because his automatic looks like a demon, probably isn't sensors were going off, but because he could almost swear the guy looked familiar.

"I do. Last one." Xander moved his laptop aside and switched the countertop computer on to show the layout. "It's a one bedroom on the third floor, so if you're afraid of elevators or... not having an extra bedroom, you're out of luck, but other than that it's a nice little place."

He had no problems with elevators. Especially not after being trapped in a turbolift for several hours with Londo. “I think it will do quite nicely. I doubt I’ll be needing an extra bedroom anytime soon.” And when compared to the cramped sleeping quarters of his ship that he’d spent the past few years in, the small apartment would feel like a godsend.

Xander reached for the rental forms. "That puts you right next door to the mayor." And coincidentally, the only other tenant who could give him a run for his money in the looks like a demon but probably isn't sweepstakes. "Nice guy, tends bar down the road sometimes. Never turned into a giant snake and tried to eat us all, so he's got my vote."

“The mayor.” G’Kar remembered meeting D’Argo at the party on Saturday. “Turned into a giant snake?” he asked curiously.

"Not this one," Xander assured him. "Back in my hometown, when I had a hometown. Trust me, this place is a couple thousand steps up."

“I shall take your word for it.”

G’Kar took a few moments to fill out the necessary paperwork and handed it back. “I am G’Kar. You are the manager of the building here?” Seemed like a dumb question, but perhaps not. He could just be a regular employee.

"Xander Harris. Owner, manager, cook, carpenter, and bottle-washer. Except for the cook part. I got a machine that does most of that."

G’Kar smirked. “I think I can manage my own cooking. Nice to meet you, Xander.”

"You too. If you need anything fixed, give me a call." Xander paused. "Long as it doesn't have an engine. Though I know people who could probably do that kind of repair too."

“I doubt I’ll be keeping anything an engine in my apartment. But I’ll keep the other things in mind. Is there anything else I should be aware of?”

"We've got a shuttlepad if you do need a place for enginey things," Xander said. "Um. New teacher or are you working in town? Because there's a whole different set of you-might-not-want-to's for those."

[No worries; I also was of the crashy.]

He made a mental note of the shuttlepad. For now though, his ship should be fine where it was. "I'll be working in town. I just agreeded to purchase half of a store called Turtle and Canary. Very nice young woman." He arched an eyebrow slightly, "What kind of things?"

"I'm a Turtle fan, yeah." Possibly due to the fact that she thinks his name is cool because it starts with an X. Even if technically it starts with an A. "Well the gremlins tend to hang out there more at the school than in town. But they're out on the island sometimes too - if you see a little green thing about yea high--" Xander measured out your basic gremlin-height on the countertop. "--You probably want to back off. Bite causes hallucinations."

Avoid small green things; got it. "Well Xander, if there is nothing else, how soon can I move in?" Not that he *had* much to move.

"Soon as you're ready - it's all cleaned up." Xander slid the key across the counter and jerked a thumb towards the back of the lobby. "Elevator's there if you want to go up and take a look at it. Number six."

"Thank you. I think I will take a quick look." He accepted the key and with a curt nod, was off.

He returned about 15 minutes later. "It's perfect."

"Glad it works for you." Xander set the paperwork aside and glanced down at the screen to mark the vacancy as filled. "First time we've had a full house since right after I got the place."

"I hope everyone gets along well then."

"Nobody's had a food fight in the lobby yet." That thoughtful tilt of Xander's head wasn't him thinking that actually sounded like a good idea. Really. "I think we'll manage."

"I'm sure," he smirked. "Well, I have some things to take care of at the hotel, but I'll be moving in tomorrow." G'Kar bowed slightly. "It's been a pleasure. I hope we will see more of each other." A pause. "Preferable not while engaged in combat with food."

Xander stopped himself from letting the words Nah, the jello dragons only attack in the summer from passing his lips. Just. But he surreptitiously knocked on the nearest piece of wood he could find, just in case.

"Same here. Welcome to the island!"
