Turtle & Canary; Sunday [2/3]

Doom was behind the counter today, but a little off to the side and largely hidden behind the Squishy contraption. He had informed Apu in no uncertain terms that he was not to be disturbed today. He had plans to finalize after all.

Also, he heard about the convention.

These were exactly the kind of people who liked to come into the store on his days and pick a fight. He had too many other things to do, he couldn't be bothered with that type of foolishness today.

Apu, for his part, also made sure that the store was all set for the big game.

Today's Squishy flavors: Victory, Defeat, Commercials

[OOC: Speaking of the big game, I'm going to be at a friend's house from about 12 Central Time until late. So if you really want to talk to Doom, speed is the key!]

Escaping from under Cable's flashy eye was a Weasel. A Weasel in search of some Cheesy Puffs.

He dumped the bag on the counter, glanced over to the Squishy machine, and said, "Can I have a Defeat Squishy-- OhmygodDoom?!"

"YOU DARE INTERRUPT DOOM?" Doom asked. He was still plotting! Important plots!

"...I'll come back next week," Weasel whimpered, moving a few steps back into the store.

"WHAT IS IT THAT YOU WISH TO PURCHASE?" Doom demanded to know.

"Uhm... Defeat Squishy?" He pointed a mildly shivering finger somewhere near the Squishybot.

"Apu. Prepare the twitchy man's Squishy," Doom ordered. "Go slightly above the normal level. He seems like a man used to more defeat than most people."

Apu did as ordered and put Weasel's Squishy on the counter.

"YOU WILL NOW PAY AND LEAVE A PENNY IN THE TRAY."

"...Okay."

Weasel padded shiftily up to the counter, where he quickly swiped his Squishy and dumped some small change on the counter. "...Thanks, uh, Doom. You're a lot more, uh, accommodating, than the stories paint you. It's a good look."

He refrained from asking Doom if he played poker. Barely.

"LEAVE," Doom ordered.

"Right, right, leaving!"

Weasel scurried away to the back of the store. Where he stopped, and flipped his custom Blackberry at Doom. There was a momentary flash from the camera.

And then Weasel ran like hell. Maybe Cable could protect him. He was supposed to be a good guy, right?

G'Kar decided that he should meet a few more of 'his' employees. It felt a little odd to have people working for him, it had been so long since he'd been in any sort of 'boss-like' capacity. Not that he was ever really a boss, not unless you counted Na'Toth. Which even then, he wasn't so much her boss as he was a higher-up companion.

He looked over the two men working in the store. One was a funny looking human and the other...covered in some sort of protective uniform. Interesting.

Victory sounded like a good flavor. He asked Apu for one and took it over to the counter before Doom. "How is business faring today?" he asked pleasantly.

"Slow so far," Doom said. "You would be G'Kar." It wasn't a question. It was a statement of knowledge.

Turtle's e-mail to the employees had included a helpful description. The spots were thus a dead giveaway.

[OOC: Running off now a bit earlier than expected. SP okay?]

"Yes, that is I. I've only met one of the part-time employees so far. And Apu of course." ~~cuz he's there all the time~~ "And you would be?"

Bucky came in and bought two Squishies (one Victory, one Defeat) and an assortment of snack foods for the flying car ride back to New York.

"Doctor Doom," Doom said. "But Wexler insists upon calling me 'Victor.' That is not a pleasantry I will allow many to use, however. So call me Doom."

Okayyy... G'Kar wasn't going to question that. If the man wanted to be called Doom, he would oblige him.

"Pleasure to meet you, Doom." "Do you find your work here enjoyable?" Might as well get a feel for the employees' work attitudes right off.

"It is preferable to the other forms of employment this island provides," Doom said, thinking that he would rather die an honorable death trying to destroy the island than work a single day in the ice cream store.

"I see. Any concerns you may have?"

"None that I expect you'll be able to handle," Doom said. "On two separate occasions during my shift, superpowered individuals found their way here for a battle. It's becoming tiresome."

Really? He'd have to ask Turtle about that one. "Any idea of why they would choose the store as their battleground?"

Perhaps it wasn't the location.

"The first time was a bizarre series of events beginning with the fact that I aged 20 years for a weekend. The specifics are unimportant," Doom said. They were unimportant because his memory of that weekend was hazy. If they were important, Doom would remember them. That was logic.

"I don't know the reasons for the second one, but it seems as if it was some sort of strategic choice, which is puzzling for several reasons. Most of them related to the fact that the professor responsible for that shows every indication of being completely incapable of any higher forms of thinking."

"Aged 20 years? Interesting."

"A professor?" Another thing he'd have to ask Turtle about.

"This island does peculiar things to you," Doom said. "I have yet to find any defense against it. And, yes, a professor. Wade Wilson. He brought a friend of his who had become War into the store while they were in the middle of a fight. It allowed Wilson a break from the fight while War attacked me. Or perhaps he just found himself to be very lucky to teleport at the feet of the man who could give him time to rest. Either way, it was beyond my control."

"I have heard some things about the island already. Fascinating."

"Every person has a right to defend themselves. I don't fault you for that. As long as everything turned out fine."

"It did, after some cleanup by Doom's coworkers," Doom said. "Stories of the battle should also make any potential criminals think very carefully before coming into the store will ill intents."

"Good to know." An employee *and* a security force. How convenient. "Well, I'll leave you to it. Good day!"

G'Kar bowed and then left, taking his unfinished squishy with him.
