Turtle and Canary, Thursday [2/7]

Valentine's Day was fast approaching, which meant the dance was coming up, and Sokka was thinking about whether to take anyone, and what to wear, and how best to attract the ladies.

But it ALSO meant that the store was full of candycandycandycandycandy.

So, in addition to his usual Squishy, Sokka had behind the counter with him a very tall stack of heart-shaped boxes of chocolates he'd bought. And a very sick stomach.

Today's Squishy flavors: Red, Pink, Beef Jerky

There was... an awful lot of red in the store today. He was just there for a few simple supplies, some extra paper and a couple of ingredients for something he intended to make sometime this week.

He was, however, giving a Liir in the headlights look at the heart-shaped boxes.

"Can I help you?" Sokka asked, wiping the chocolate off his mouth with the back of his sleeve.

"Not really," he admitted. "I've got my intended items. I'm just wondering what all this is about?"

Sokka looked around. "...Oh! There's a holiday around here called Valentine's Day. It's, you know, for people who are in love and stuff. Sometime next week, I think. There's going to be a dance, probably, and you're supposed to give flowers and chocolate to whoever you're dating." He shrugged. "And there's LOTS of chocolate to give."

He quirked.

"Is it a holiday for people in love or people who are dating?"

After all, there was a pretty big difference between the two in the end, wasn't there?

"Uhhhhh... Both? I don't know. You'd have to ask someone who comes from this world." He held out an open, half-eaten box of chocolates. "Try one. They're good."

He looked at the box and sniffed the air, picking up the chocolate immediately.

"Are you sure? Don't I have to buy them first?"

Sokka stared at him, and then down at the very-unsalable box. "Uh... I've already bought it. You can tell by the way it's been opened. And I'm offering you some."

In the hopes that you'll buy a box of your own.

He looked at the box, and then at Sokka, and then at the plethora of other boxes.

"All right," and he took one, but didn't eat it yet. "And you give boxes of these to people you're dating and/or in love with?"

Sokka nodded. "Yep. Or you just buy them for yourself, because chocolate is awesome."

He nodded before considering it.

"And how long will they be available? These boxes? What day is this day anyway?"

"Not a clue. But I think there's another holiday coming up after this one, so there'll be candy for a while."

"Well," he said, all business, "I'd like to get some of these for Andrew, but I suppose I'll have to find out the appropriate date for it elsewhere. Which one of these do you think would be best for someone who is both who you're dating and--"

And you love.

"The most expensive one," Sokka answered, immediately.

...Andrew?

"...And, uh, I'd just like to recommend staying away from glitter. No reason."

He blinked.

"What does glitter have to do with anything? Though I do avoid it. On general principle."

It's annoying. And hurts his eyes in the right sun.

"Which one is the most expensive?"

Katara bounced in and eyed the chocolate hopefully. "Do you have enough to share?"

"Sure!" Sokka held out a single piece from the box he was eating, and then looked at it, and looked at her, and very reluctantly put it back and handed her an entire unopened box. "Don't say I never did anything for you."

She bounced happily. "Best brother ever! Thank you!"

Sokka watched his box of chocolates sadly as it bounced in her arms. "Yeah. I better be getting something in return."

"My eternal devotion?" she teased.

Who is much more likely to interact in a professional, courteous, and not-sick-to-his-stomach way.

Jamie was in a mood. A hungry type of mood.

Which is why he bought a ton of Chocolate Frosted Sugar bombs and two gallons of milk.
