Caritas [Thursday evening]

When Robin wandered into Caritas on Thursday evening, Tino was nowhere to be found, but a note regarding his shunning of Robin was on the bar.

Evidently he'd discovered he'd have to work next Thursday for her.

[I am aroooooound but there is a new pet so replies might be a wee tad slow.]

"Glad I can entertain," she smiled. "You can make up for all the lost time over the month now."

"But if I make it all up at once, you should have to carry me back to the dorms. And I might sing on the way, too." He sounded very convinced this would be Bad. "So I will have to make it up a little each time I come."

Whether he sounded convinced or not, Brooke was intrigued. "You might sing, huh? How much would it take to get you onstage?"

"More than I have now, and possibly more than they have here," Romeo decided. "I do not have a good voice. I have rather the opposite." And now he was leaning toward Brooke, wondering if she'd try to talk him into it.

He probably would, too. He'd warned her, after all.

"No one's ever a good judge of what they sound like," said Brooke, signaling the bartender for another of whatever Romeo was having. Because she was helpful like that.

Romeo wasn't sure why this was the week cute girls were trying to get him drunk, but he wasn't exactly objecting. He took his second vodka tonic and sipped it. "What about you? Do you sing?"

"Not that remember, usually," she answered. "But on the plus side, I don't remember it."

"So if I have a few more, I could sing and at least say I did not remember," Romeo mused. This idea was starting to sound like it was, at the least, not boring. "The recording would not go to radio, would it?"

Oh, that was an idea to remember when she found someone in Fandom she hated. I'm sure it wouldn't get more than a mention."

Romeo finished his second drink. "'Tis good to know. By the way, excellent broadcast last night, much more interesting than the truth. I scarce minded you suggested I needed an intervention."

He eyed the stage. The zombies looked much less intimidating with two drinks in him. "I will sing now, if you will sing later."

"I was adding some dramatic padding," she explained, ordering her second drink. "I make no guarantees. This is only my second."

"Dramatic padding never hurts, especially as none could have taken it seriously," Romeo told her.

He spun his glass in his hand. "My second as well," he said, but motioned for a third. "Any requests? If I am to do this, I would not want to choose a song you dislike."

"You don't want to ask me that," she said immediately. "I'll pick something really embarrassing and you'll have to drink more."

"Then thank you for warning me, instead of doing just that," Romeo said. He touched her arm lightly. "I shall do my best to make a good showing for you."

And then he headed toward the stage.

Brooke applauded, and who cared- too much- about the voice? He actually did it. "Very nice," she said approvingly.

"Anytime," Romeo said, breathing a little rapidly from the embarrassment and exhilaration of actually singing in public. He wagged a teasing finger at Brooke. "Don't think I will make a habit of it."

"Are you sure? It has only been two drinks?" she said.

"But it was a challenge, and I did it once," Romeo explained. But he had to smile, as he knew he'd do it again if she asked. "I suppose next time it will take five or six drinks. But that will not happen tonight, as it is time for me to get to bed. Would you like to walk with me?"

"I'd be glad to be your escort," Brooke smiled, finishing up her drink before putting it down.

"You can protect me from the vagabonds who roam the streets of Fandom at night," he said, paying for the drinks and moving to help Brooke into her coat. "Come, let's away."
