Pizza Planet, Tuesday [10-5]

Ronan was... a little worse for wear, perhaps, when he got into work that day, but aside from a few bruises (most of them hidden beneath his clothes) and a bit of stiffness to how he was walking, most people wouldn't be able to tell.

Why was he bruised and stiff, do you ask? ... He'd rather not talk about it. Just accept that sometimes, errantry is more embarrassing than productive.

He's slowly working out the stiffness, simply through moving around. ... And he's totally not taking some of his time to play games in the arcade, of course not.

Hoshi stopped by after leaving the hotel. "The stromboli sounds good. I think that's what I'll have."

"Coming right up," Ronan said, grinning. He put the order in, and then turned back to Hoshi. "Anything to drink?" he asked. "Or just the stromboli?"

"I'll go with a died Coke, please," said Hoshi. "How have you been? I don't think I've seen anyone cooking in the common room lately, but I've been spending a lot of time in my room."

"Are you eating here," he asked, "or would you like this to go?"

Ronan shrugged a little. "I haven't been cooking in the common rooms lately, no," he said. "I really should do that again. I kinda miss it."

"I'll eat here," said Hoshi. "I've been spending way too much time in my room. I brought back a food replicator when I went home for Christmas, but it doesn't work properly. I should get back to cooking myself."

"Food replicator? How's that work?" Ronan asked, filling a large glass mug from the soda fountain with the requested diet Coke and putting on the counter for Hoshi. "I imagine it doesn't just create things out of thin air." He glanced back, and said, "Your stromboli should be up in just a second."

"Not entirely out of thin air. You can't create something from nothing, but you can take protein molecules and reassemble them if you know the pattern," explained Hoshi. "They use them on cargo ships back home and I made a friend who lived on a cargo ship. The only problem is that I don't know how to program it. All I can get is water, tea, and chocolate milk."

Ronan frowned. "Huh. It didn't have anything else programmed into it already?"

"Not that I can tell," said Hoshi, frowning. "I did manage to get tequila from it, although technically I wasn't myself that weekend because I would never drink an entire bottle of tequila in one night."

Ronan couldn't help but chuckle, even as the bell rang for the order coming up. "I know the feeling," he said over his shoulder, as he turned back to grab the plate. "I spent a weekend recently as a macaw."

"You probably got in less trouble than I did," said Hoshi, smiling. "Not only did I drink all the tequila, but I cut up all my t-shirts and got a belly button piercing that got infected. Dr. Troy had to take it out." That's not even mentioning the guy who tried to teach her some dirty dancing in the common room.

Ronan winced. "Okay, that had to hurt," he said, handing the plate to Hoshi with a final garnish of parsley. "I hope that's okay now? ANd yeah, seriously? All I did was hide out all weekend because my mun was having too much with with Troy as Link Larkin."

Hoshi thought that the stromboli looked absolutely delicious. "It's all healed now. I'm almost tempted to get it done professionally because I was really starting to like the piercing," she said. "But yeah, it hurt a lot."

"Hmm." Ronan considered that for a moment. "Is there anywhere on the island that does it, do you know? Or would you have to go to the mainland?"

"I think I'll probably have to go to the mainland. I've been doing my research," said Hoshi.

"Keep me in mind," he said. "I could take you over -- it's faster than relying on regular transportation." Grinning, he added, "We could get a bunch of people together. Make a day-trip of it."

Tom was busy cleaning tables, refilling the condiments, and other such fun things, though his hand would occasionally dip into his apron pocket to make sure his own personal quarter stash was there for when he was done. The Donkey Madness machine was taunting him- but he'd best his score today, dang it.

"Thanks," Ronan said, relaxing some. "... I, uh. ... I'd rather keep the extra day than go through yesterday again, but y'know." He smiled, a bit embarrassed. "... I doubt the advice will ever be of use to you, but always make sure that your timeslide is anchored on something that won't move."

Tom nodded slowly, as though he understood.

"I'll be sure to keep that in mind. And hey, it's better to just have the day open in case you get send off on any more... ah, errantry instead of having to stress about missing work, too. I can handle things myself until I hire someone else."
