Luke's Diner; Wednesday [ 02/13 ]

A.J. was feeling a whole lot of stress. Stress over his project for class. Stress over the upcoming Valentine's Day. Stress over the whole things with Annette. Stress, stress, stress. It sucked. So A.J. was sulking. A lot. At least he knew that he could do sulking well.

Today's special looked like just a continuing spiral of overlapping and slightly chaotic colors.

Luke's is open.

Having taken a walk into town, River stopped by the diner when she saw A.J. through the window. She hadn't spoken to him in a while, and as it was anyway lunchtime she could buy some fries and ice cream.

Although his mood was clear enough to River as she entered, she smiled at A.J.

"Better and worse," River replied, tilting her head to watch him. "Now I'm hungry."

"Fries and ice cream," River ordered, then smiled at A.J. again. "Talk or forget?"

"Vanilla." River nodded at A.J.'s reply, but couldn't help adding with a smirk: "Dissatisfaction with the current state is leaking all over the room."

River nodded. She had guessed. "Considering which options?"

River tilted her head to the other side. That question wasn't always easy to answer, but today at least she felt it could be answered affirmatively. She nodded. Then a wide grin appeared on her face, in response to A.J.'s thoughts. She nodded again, this time encouragingly.

Anemone was bored and hungry after class, and out of cooking supplies, so she went looking for diversion. Namely? A.J.

"Feed me, Seymore," she proclaimed, skipping up to the counter. "Feeeeeeeeeeed meeeeeeeee."

"Milkshake and cheesy fries?" she asked, a hopeful glint in her eyes. "People keep telling me that they don't count as a meal, but I beg to differ."

"Even snailguts might taste good if you cover them in enough cheese," she said tranquilly. "I'll go for the surprise option. I happen to know the milkshake-boy, and I trust his muse."

Anemone glanced over at the specials board. "Looks like she at least poked at you this morning, even if she didn't stick around to chat. Why? Stalled on a project?"

"Probably just winter blahs or whatever, this weather sucks. I can't even see the sky," she complained. "Between the constant clouds and classes sucking out my brain, I'm surprised I haven't gone completely batty. Ding dong, no Anemone home."

"Great, I'll make sure everyone knows that your treats are not what causes my impending sanity break." She said sweetly, fluttering her eyelashes in an amusing parody of flirting. "Gimmie!"
