Groovy Tunes; Friday [ 02/15 ]

Yeah, there was a dance tonight, but Chad was working instead. Because he was a dedicated employee.

Besides, even if he did like dancing (which he didn't, really, with perhaps one exceptional partner and she wasn't here anymore), he didn't feel like moving around much any more than necessary today. It was definitely laser pointer game for the kittens today, yup.

Today's mix: Teddy (duh).

Teddy did not have a mask or a date to the dance, so therefore he was shopping for music.

Really.

Nothing else going on here.

See how he casually browsed the CDs and didn't peer over at Chad occasionally. Just ignore the bag of food he had and the masks (http://www.madisonavemall.com/images/pictures/radA5905.jpg) for them (http://www.madisonavemall.com/images/pictures/radD81D5.jpg).

Chad arched an eyebrow a bit, leaning (carefully) on the counter and watching Teddy's oh-so-casual perusal of the music. He figured that Teddy could have done better, considering how, last he knew, Teddy wasn't much of a fan of African tribal drum bands. He could be wrong, though. He'd support that sort of branching out in his listening field.

He could not support the idea that Teddy would actually expect him to go over there today. Because that required moving. He was trying to avoid that today, so he just watched, and waited. He could be incredibly patient at times.

He could totally be branching out. You never knew.

But he was hungry. And Chad wasn't playing, so he set the bag of sandwiches (Which he made and was moderately sure weren't food poisoning waiting to happen, knowing his luck) and offered the gold mask. "Up for a dance?"

Chad gave a light grin, plucking at one of the music note decorations on it before taking it. He'd politely ignore that it was treble clef instead of base. "I can't," he said. "I gotta work, Ted. But you know you can go if you want to; I don't mind."

Teddy grinned, handing over a CD he snagged. "Play song five (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7K4jH7NqUw)."

It was kind of scary how Chad took one look at the CD and immiately knew exactly what song Teddy was pushing for. He gave his boyfriend a suspicious sort of look as he moved toward the CD player. He didn't put it in, though. He just went to the last song on his current mix because he knew it was on there already. "Teddy, you're not thinking what I think you're thinking, are you?"

"Maybe." Yes, Teddy was that big of a dork.

There was a grunt. A complex one. An extremely touched and admiring one, but a reluctant one, as Johnny Cash's gravel voice started filtering through the speakers. "Ted..."

Leaning over to kiss him in response, Teddy grinned. "We don't need glitter and spiked punch for a dance, right?"

"Well, no," Chad said and, deciding that the kiss and the comment was all the convincing he needed that he should suck it up. He'd been hit by I-Beams and buses and thrown through four walls in a row before; he could handle a little bit of soreness. He kissed him back and went to move around the counter so he could meet Teddy on the other side. "An' you really wanna wear the masks?"

Teddy looked at the masks again. "Nah. I just thought the music one was good for you next time," He said, putting his hands on Chad's hips.

"It's treble clef," Chad commented, idly, as he leaned forward a little to rest his forehead against Teddy's, drawing one of his arms around the other boy. "But that's okay. An', I gotta admit, I was probably going to make a superhero joke if you did want to wear 'em."

"They didn't have any with a bass clef," Teddy replied, moving slightly in time with the music. Dancing with Chad was different. For one... no one was watching.

"And I never wore a mask." His hair turned to black. "Just changed my hair and skin color at first."

Well, no one except the kittens, perhaps, although the majority of them were too busy trying to avoid Prince Oscar Pedro at the moment.

"Seems you lucked out there," Chad muttered, with a light grin, keeping close.

Poor, poor Prince Oscar Pedro.

"Why? You think I should wear a mask?" Teddy asked, tilting his head in a way that might have asked for a kiss.

"Nah." Chad gave his head a light shake, before giving Teddy what was requested. "Can't trust people in masks."

He was nice like that.

"Really?" Teddy asked.

"Well, not usually," Chad said; clearly, he'd given a lot of psychological thought on the whole fact that you defeated a Hollow by breaking its mask, here. Of course, then he went to add, "Can't trust anyone you keeps part of their face hidden..." He gave a pointed breath of air upwards, disturbing his hair just slightly before it fell right back into his eyes, and gave the barest hint of a grin at Teddy.

Teddy nodded seriously, breaking into a grin. "Of course! Very untrustworthy," He teased.

Chad gave a serious nod back. "Glad we've reached an understanding."

Up on his toes, Teddy kissed him, pushing the hair off Chad's forehead. "This mean we need to get you a haircut?"

"No one's touching my hair," Chad muttered, although he definitely had no problem with Teddy brushing his hand in it like that. "I'll have to remain a shady-looking character."

"Perfect for a musician," Teddy said. "Maybe not for a model. Unless you start a new trend."

"I could," Chad commented, as the idle sway of their dancing moved him to, just briefly, nuzzle his cheek against Teddy's head a little. "You think I could?"

"Of course you could," Teddy insisted, turning his head to brush his lips against Chad's.

"Then I will," Chad decided, kissing Teddy back, and then following it up with a kiss on his forehead. "Just you wait."

And, after a moment, he added, "Thanks for coming."

Arms around Chad's waist and in close now, Teddy grinned, resting his head against Chad's chest. "I brought food, too."

The closeness lead Chad to lightly drift a hand down Tedy's back. "Food is good," he said. "After we finish the dance?"

Because, well, this was actually kinda nice.

Teddy nodded, kissing him again. "After."

"Thanks," Chad said, and managed to just quietly enjoy the dance for a few moments. But it was hard to get food off his mind now that it was introduced into the conversation. "...What kind of sandwiches?"

"Um, one of them is ham. I think." It had looked like ham?

Watch for those crazy rambunctious kittens underfoot, as Prince Oscar Pedro tries to avoid the drama in the fact that he seems to have asked all three of Melody's kittens to be his Valentine. I feel a sitcom coming on!

Okay, I totally would watch that show. My money's totally on P.o.P./"That Other One." *nod*
