Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Monday

It was fairly early in the morning when Cable unlocked the shop from the outside, not even bothering to flip the sign as he marched in. It would be over two hours before he returned to the shop area, a cup of coffee in hand and a change of clothes on the rest of him.

He regarded the street beyond the window, thoughtfully. Then sat down, the chair creaking slightly under his weight.

Spring break was over. He was still working.

Ino blinked at the 'Closed' sign. They... were normally open. Nonetheless she slipped inside just to see for herself. "Cable-san?"

"Hello, Ino."

The scene was the usual, really-- Cable was focused on his laptop, one hand cycling through some readings while he used the other to drink coffee.

"Morning!" she chirped, wandering over to him. "The sign still says 'Closed', just so you know."

"I know," he replied, his fingers ghosting to hit a few more keys. "How was spring break?"

"Just checking." Ino grinned at him. "It was fun, for once, instead of boring. I approve of this improvement greatly."

"Productive, I hope." Cable's brow furrowed almost unnoticably at something on the screen.

Erm. Ino supposed it really really depended on what you counted as 'productive'.

"Kinda?" she offered, almost sheepishly, after a few minutes of trying to decide what, exactly, might count as productive to Cable-san.

There were a legion of things that could be considered productive. If asked, Cable would probably define it as involving 'doing the right thing'. Or working towards it. Whichever.

"Good answer," he deadpanned. Cable glanced over the top of his laptop. "How was Tether?"

She was, however, pretty sure he wouldn't count celebrating Kabuto's birthday as productive. Possibly he'd count her letting both Karal and Jeff have a plant each though. And training with Liir totally had to be productive, right? So... kinda.

"Tether was a total sweetheart," Ino said cheerfully, "not a problem at all." And way better behaved than Angel.

"He usually is." Cable leaned back in his chair. "How can I help you?" he asked, a sense of dry humor influencing his tone considerably.

He still didn't quite have the customer service tone down, anyway.

Ino blinked at him, then giggled. "Cable-san! I'm not a customer!"

Mostly 'cause she was pretty sure he wouldn't sell her anything anyway.

"I was kidding."

So maybe it was usually hard to tell with him.

She pouted at him. Just a bit. And it did nothing to hide the laughter in her eyes. "And you wouldn't sell me anything anyway, right? Even if you weren't kidding."

"Probably not." Even if Cable had been partly responsible for one of her presents.

He was in a good mood this morning. For his standards.

"I'm totally responsible enough to handle the weapons, Cable-san," she said, wrinkling her nose at him, "even if you won't sell me them."

"Handle, maybe," he said, vaguely. "That doesn't mean you should."

"I'd make a really bad pacifist, Cable-san. I like weapons."
