The Perk, Tuesday morning/noon-ish

There had been several places around town that Sky had noticed as a sparkleball which he resolved to come back and visit when he was human again. His first handwavy try earlier Tuesday morning had been Book Haven, which to his disappointment seemed to be closed for the day. So he'd gone back to his room, gotten a book he owned, and went to the Perk instead. It would be a nice change from the dorm walls.

Sky ordered a cup of tea and took a window seat, staring out the window for a while and considering calling Troy to see if he wanted to join him. He also noticed the numerous angel statues for the first time, wondering where they'd suddenly come from. Shrugging it off as Fandom weirdness, he was soon absorbed in his book, even forgetting his idea to call. He'd probably be there for a while; this place seemed pretty pleasant.

Hoshi came into the Perk for a latte and a muffin. She had a bag (http://www.handsnpaws.com/product/FXNYDCARR3255/Cape_Cod_Pet_Carrier.html) thrown over her shoulder that appeared to be squirming at times. Closer inspection would show that the squirming was caused by a beagle puppy and not Fandom weirdness.

She smiled at Sky, debating whether or not to go say hi since he looked to be wrapped up in his book.

"Good book?" asked Hoshi, breaking off a piece of her muffin and feeding it to Porthos.

"It's a really good series. I read them all in one shot when I was twelve," said Hoshi. It was an advantage of growing up a century in the future.

"Yeah, Porthos is in there," she added. "I don't think they'll let me turn him loose in here, and he makes a fuss every time I leave him alone in my dorm room."

Hoshi smiled. "Trust me, you'll want to block off some time to read all of them. That's how it was with me. Once I finished the first, I had to start on the second one right away," she said.

"Porthos really belongs to a friend of mine back home," added Hoshi, glossing over the fact that her "friend" was a Starfleet commander twice her age. "He got new orders when I was there over spring break and couldn't take Porthos with him on his mission, so he asked if I could take care of Porthos for him."

"You're dating someone?" asked Hoshi, blinking rapidly. The dating thing hadn't worked out so well for yet... not that she'd really tried other than asking Michael to the dance.

"He loves it. There's all sorts of activity in the dorms and he loves going to the park. Except those weird statues popped up and scared us both off," she added, frowning.

"I know his roommate, but I haven't met Troy yet which really ought to be rectified at some point," said Hoshi. She glanced at the statue outside the window and shuddered. "I don't remember seeing that one either. Those things really give me the creeps. They couldn't just be popping up on their own, could they?"

"It's not entirely unusual for this place. There was that tree that showed up almost overnight in the park, the one that has the pink flowers," said Hoshi, thinking. "Although the tree really doesn't bother me at all. I get a kind of warm feeling when I'm there. The statues give off a totally different vibe."

"Okay, now this is getting really creepy," said Hoshi, shivers running down her spine. "I wonder if this had something to do with Turtle not being on radio last night. It's not like her to miss it, and Jeff sounded so upset about not knowing where she was."

"I think it will be another one of those nights where I'll be missing having a roommate," said Hoshi. "Thank goodness for Porthos."

"I'll definitely do that," said Hoshi. She'd already had once incident with a vampire and had no plans to be a victim again.
