On the way to work, Amber had wondered about a couple angel statues she saw. Funny how she didn't remember angel statues before. Maybe the town council had something to do with it. Either way, Amber thought they seemed a little eerie even being angels.

When she got to work she grabbed the broom and decided to sweep. She wanted to keep busy today; eeriness just made her think of Gladys Leeman. She really ought to call ma and see if she's heard anything about the escaped convict.

G'Kar smiled as he saw Amber cleaning up around the store. Call it a hunch, but he felt like checking up on his employees today. Just because. No real reason.

"Hello Amber!" he greeted warmly. "Hard at work, I see." He grinned.

Pausing from her job at hand, Amber was pleasantly surprised to see G'Kar. "Hey, Mr. G'Kar!" she said, grinning. "Yah, I like to stay busy. How are you today?"

"I am well. Yourself? How goes your studies?" Not being nosey, just making polite conversation.

He glanced briefly out the window. "Things seem...quiet today."

"Oh, I'm good, thanks. Classes are goin' along just fine. I really enjoy Drivers Ed. Despite the wrecks," she said with a nod, thinking this sounded normal for classes here.

Amber followed his brief glance out the window. "It's strange. Have you noticed any angel statues? If the town is wantin' to improve upon their scenic position for the sake of tourists, I'd say they were kinda creepy. Those statues."

"That's good to hear," G'kar replied with a nod. Driving was a rather abstract concept for him, as everyone flew in ships from where he was from.

"I have noticed them. Unfortunately." He made a disgusted-looking face. He thought nothing could surpass the tackiness of Centauri 'art', but he'd just been proven wrong. "They are rather...discordant things aren't they?" And that was putting it mildly.

"I would say so, yah. They belong in a cemetery, I think. Just out there, in the middle of the way... and I think it's my eyes, but every now and then as I glance out the window? There might be a different shape to the exact same one I was lookin' at a second ago."

"They do seem to everywhere. And there appears to be little logic as to their placement." There had been that one right in the middle of the street. Odd.

G'Kar frowned slightly. "Different? How so?" He thought for a moment, then continued, "Could this be part of that 'strangeness' the island sometimes is capable of? As everyone keeps insisting happens upon occasion."

"I know, right? Just... there," she waved her hand nonchalantly.

"Oh yah, you betcha. There certainly is strangeness that happens around here. I might be newish but I've encountered a few things I'd rather not repeat to ma next time I talk to her. Like the dust bunnies and the day just last week where most everyone seemed to be havin' a hard time talkin' right. Oh, and the snowin' giraffe's. That was kinda cute."

"Giraffes?" G'Kar looked at her warily. "Are they not some type of animal? How can it snow them?"

"I'm afraid I missed all of that. I was occupied attending to other matters last week."

"I don't know," Amber shrugged with a grin. "But they were sure cute until they hit the ground and melted. Poor things."

She twisted her lips. "I'm sure you'll encounter somethin' soon enough or maybe I should tell you I hope you don't. Things can be mighty weird around here."

"Poor things, indeed. Melting does not sound pleasant."

He smirked. "Odds are, I'll encounter something sooner or later. The universe has ways of springing the unexpected and bizarre upon one."

"Yah, I know it. I suppose it depends on how we react to that situation that matters. Some people could totally freak out." Not Amber. Much anyway.

"Precisely. Perhaps that is why strange things occur. It would be fate's way of testing our reactions."

Of course, that might lead into testing one for...what?

"...to see if we belong here," she added to that with a perky nod. "'Course, a lot of us are here because we have come from a less than... well, just because. So we might take strange over anythin' else any day."

"That is as good an answer as any," he smiled at her.

Amber returned his smile. "I'm glad you stopped in, Mr. G'Kar. It's nice visitin' with you."

"It is equally pleasant to visit you as well."

Sokka quickly ducked into the store and held the door shut while his panic subsided. "I think there's a statue following me!!!" he whispered hoarsely.

No, he WASN'T actually being followed; he'd just seen four or five different angels on his way here.

And then, of course, there was the distraction of Squishies. "...And you think MY flavor choices are weird..."

"You saw them too?" Amber asked, thinking something really strange was going on around here with statues. One angel statue seemed fine. But more than that? Just weird.

She put her hand on her hip. "And just what is wrong with today's flavors?"

"It was creepy," Sokka confirmed. "One minute it was behind me, the next it was in front of me, and every time I turned a corner it was there!"

He pointed at Bob, and began counting problems off on his fingers. "One, cherry blossoms aren't really edible at all. They're flowers. Two, even if they WERE edible, that's just kind of weird. Three, coconuts taste weird, so that's weird all by itself. And four -- and I want you to pay close attention to this one, because it's important -- coconuts AREN'T BLUE. They're green. Or brown. And white inside."

"Surely it's not the statue's movin'. Probably just you're seein' more than one." Amber went for reason here.

Amber pointed at Sokka when he was finished with his little rant. "You listen to me. Who's workin' today? Hmm. Me, that's who and whoever is workin' get's to decide the Squishy flavors. Besides, flowers are too edible. Least certain kinds, and Cherry Blossoms is totally a pretty name." Amber couldn't really say anything about the coconut. "Ever heard of blue food colorin'?"

"This is FANDOM," Sokka pointed out. "Which is more likely -- a lot of statues suddenly appeared out of nowhere, or ONE statue is just wandering around trying to freak me out???"

He pointed out the window. ...Where he could see two statues, one at either end of the street. "Okay, we'll assume for a moment that you might have a point."

"Food coloring or not," he added, in the other argument, "coconuts are NOT blue. It's just WRONG. And as for cherry blossoms... we'll see." He got himself one and sipped at it. "Hmmm... You know, this isn't half bad!"

She shrugged. "I am tryin' to be level headed here. New girl, remember? I haven't been here long enough to get weird quirks. Okay, maybe some, but still... statues movin'? That just sounds kinda unreal considerin' they have to be heavy and stuff." Hey, it made sense to her.

"Yeah, like sippin' on meat is normal?" That was just plain gross. "See? Good. Tastes like cherry!"

"And statues moving is that much weirder than anything that happened last week?" Sokka asked.

"Maaaaybe?" Amber said, brows raised.

"Stranger than miniature melting giraffes?" Sokka pressed. "I mean, it doesn't get much stranger than that."

"I'm tryin' to keep a sensible head here, Sokka," Amber said. "You might be ruinin' that for me. Tell me somethin' to take my mind off the weird. Kay?"

"Fan. Dom. Even Bob the Squishybot is rolling her eyes at you."

Amber cocked her head. "Bob is not a girl."

Sokka cocked an eyebrow. "Yes, she is. Turtle said."

"But Bob is a girls name," she said. "Did Turtle name it?"

"I assume so," Sokka replied. "But I think maybe she used to be named Alice? I think I remember seeing that...?"

"Oh." Huh. "Maybe Bob is short for somethin'," she said and looked over at the Squishybot.

Uhg. Allergies.
