Pizza Planet, Thursday

Makoto was apologetic for not showing up on Sunday for 'her' shift, but really, it wasn't like 'she' was going to regret it. Definitely not.

After making sure the place was clean, and open, Makoto headed for the video games. Productive. Only not.

Oh well.

Today’s Special
C
(Three cheeses, carrots, cucumber, and cajun chicken.)

Pizza Planet is Open.

As Tom had been asleep most of Sunday, he wasn't even aware that Makoto had missed her shift, but he completely understood.

He was in a very good mood today, humming along with the radio as he played video games right alongside his employee.

Work? What's that?

G'Kar came in and slid into an open booth. He only ordered some water and began writing in a journal as he waited for Turtle.

Turtle would have bounced in more if she hadn't gone to the store first to get a few files and print-outs to go over with G'kar at some point, maybe, if the power lunch went that way and been a little traumatized by what had been going on there. It might not have been so bad if the song hadn't been such an earworm on top of the fact that it was Sokka and squirrels singing it.

"Hey, G'kar," she greeted him, sliding into the seat on the other side of the table. "Sorry if I'm a bit late." She plopped the paperwork down beside her and started shrugging off her jacket.

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
He looked up from his writing and returned her smile. "Not a problem. It gave me a few moments to catch up on my writing." He closed the journal and pushed it aside.

"So how is your day so far? Hungry? My treat."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"...My day so far has involved Sokka singing about sledgehammers," Turtle informed G'kar, "so I'll leave it up to you to determine how my day's been. What is it that you're writing? Are those accounts or anything like that? And of course I'm hungry. I could eat a horse. I won't, because I don't think it'd taste too good, but maybe a pepperoni and mushroom pizza?"

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
G'Kar arched an eyeridge at the mention of Sokka's activities. "I'm glad I didn't stop by on my way here." He smirked at her 'eating a horse' comment. "Pepperoni and mushroom sounds perfect." He handwavily placed the order with the waitress and turned back to Turtle.

"These," he tapped the journal lightly, "are just a collction of some thoughts, random observations, that sort of thing." He shrugged lightly. "Nothing overly impressive."

Turtle let out a breath of relief at G'kar's reception of her suggestion. She was worried, what with being whatever weird alien type that he was, that he'd want something really weird on his pizza instead, like...she didn't know. Swan beaks or gorgonaut fingers.

And then her head bobbed at the mention of a journal. "That's always a good sort of thing to keep. I should be better about it. Future generations would probably appreciate the preservation of my genius."

He wouldn't order anything too strange. Not really. spoo! eww! ;p Besides, Mr. Garibaldi had given him a nice appreciation of many human cuisines.

"Be careful what you wish for, Turtle." He frowned slightly, "Fate has a way to twist things in a manner we would not expect."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle frowned with consideration to G'kar's warning. Her eyes shifted to the side a little. Her thoughts automatically went to Westing, and she nodded.

"Yeah, I know," Turtle said. "That's why you're just as careful of what you put down into writing as well as what you wish for."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Precisely. People can easily misconstrue one's words. And words, especially written ones, often hold a powerful influence over others." He sighed, "Even when one tries to correct those assumptions."

"So..." he gave her a worried look though he tried to disguise it, "how are you doing? The events of the past few weeks were rather...disconcerting."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle's nose wrinkled. "Everyone keeps saying that," she muttered, and shrugged her shoulders. "Personally, I had a lot of fun, but, I mean, I guess I can get why someone might think that. I guess it just worked out really good for me over all. I went to Chicago, by the way, the year 1933, and it was kind of a lot of fun, to be honest."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry. I'm sure that must become tiresome." He nodded as she spoke. "That's good then. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. An unexpected vacation of sorts?" he grinned slightly.

He pointed at her papers, "What do you have there? Schoolwork?"

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like to think about it as more of an adventure than a vacation," Turtle explained, "because vacations are boring and dull, without any work, and this...well, I worked my little butt off, believe you me. And these," Turtle moved her coat completely off the large stack of papers and thunked them onto an open space of table, "are some documents I grabbed from the store. Sales records, order forms. I figured, if we were having a power lunch, and if business came up, I'd be more than prepared to discuss certain matters about it. Although, really, I don't have any issues to discuss. Everything's going really well and swimmingly."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"An adventure; that would be one way to look at it. I can't say that I've had many vacations myself. There always seemed to be something going on."

G'Kar grinned at her explaination of the papers. "I agree that everything has been going well. The store has been in good order."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, duh," Turtle beamed, "only 'cause it's got the best two owners in the world. There are a few orders of business, though, that I wanted to cover." She shifted a bit through the folders, producing a document. "It's spring, so we'll need to adjust the restock rotation slightly to accommodate for springish things. Put winterish things on a price reduction or clearance, and we'll need to completely refurbish the whole home and garden's section..."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
He smirked at her, but then quickly turned serious as she began to discuss business.

"Agreed. I think winter items that will not be resalable next season we should put on clearance. If there are items that absolutely will not sell, we do receive some sort of credit for, don't we?"

About this time, the waitress handwavily arrived with the pizza. G'Kar thanked her and took a slice.

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Despite the arrival of pizza, Turtle stared at G'kar.

"G'kar," she said, after a moment, when her eyes were starting to dry out from being so wide, "there is no such thing as an unsellable item. Period. It' s just not acceptable."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
He just smirked at her expression. "I suppose that is true. Everything means something to someone. Even so, it is not as valuable to *us* if it lines the store shelves for too long. True?"

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
"True," Turtle allowed, but she looked very firm on her conviction. "But, if it lines the store shelves for too long, then someone's just not doing their job. G'kar. I don't know if you remember that insane overstock of those pink singing Valentine's Day bears that just didn't sell? Have you noticed that they're gone? I sold them. In March. All of them. There's no such things as an unsellable item. You just need to know your clientèle and you need to have an angle, and you could sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo, I'm tellin' ya. Two more weeks in Chicago, and I would have been selling them wind, yeah?"

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
He cringed at the mention of the bears. "Yes, I remember them." And not in a good way. Narn hearing was much more sensitive than human and G'Kar had discovered those cute innocent bears had a knack for hitting an especially painful note. "Glad that they are all gone now. Next year, we'll make sure to not order so many." Preferably none at all. But he wasn't going to tell Turtle that.

"You my dear, I'm sure can sell anything to anyone. You have talent." Hey; there's nothing wrong with buttering up your business partner. Hush.

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
And, besides, was it really buttering her up if it were true? Turtle nodded. "I do, and, with enough work, anyone can build themselves up to doing at least marginally well in that respect. I've been working on it with the boys. It's really quite easy. Boys tend to be competitive, and so they're always trying to out do each other with sales, because they know that'll impress us--" Turtle was mostly oblivious to the fact that some of it might just be to impress her specifically, even if she did sit down and consider exactly who it was she was talking about here "--so that they can get better raises and benefits and so on and so forth. And then there's Amber, and she, being a girl, and therefor smarter, doesn't fall into that competitive trap, but she's such a hard worker that she naturally does pretty well on her own."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
G'Kar nodded. "The boys do seem...eager."

"Amber is a very sweet girl. And smart, just as you said. I've grown to like her quite a bit."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I like our whole staff," Turtle beamed a little bit with a bounce. "We've got to have the best group of workers on the whole island. Second only maybe to the Arms Hotel. I've got to give them props." She started to finally fill a plate up with pizza slices. "And not just because that's where my boyfriend works."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I agree. On both counts. Though Hoshi is the only hotel employee I've encountered reguarly. A very smart young woman."

G'Kar snagged another slice for himself.

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"And," Turtle said with an agreeing nod before taking a bite of her pizza, "Hoshi is known to have excellent taste."

Not that she was going to explain why she thought that if she didn't have to. On multiple accounts. That would just get....weird.

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Mhmm," he agreed.

"So, is there anything else we need to discuss?"

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle chewed a bite of pizza thoughtfully. "No, I don't think so. Not anything we need to, that I can think of. I don't know, if there's anything with you. You seem to be really fitting into the groove of everything pretty well."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"I seem to be 'getting the hang of it' as the expression goes. Getting out a bit more, that sort of thing. There are some very interesting people here."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, there are," Turtle enthused happily. "Isn't it great? This has got to be one of the coolest places, ever, really. I'm pretty much convinced of it."

Re: Mod your service

[identity profile] gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"A very fascinating place indeed. I'm glad I found it."
