Caritas - Friday evening [Open]

Tino had brought an old TV out onto the bar for the purpose of watching The Dance. Like he was going to miss Round 1 of the tournament just because Jolee wanted him to do work.

Jolee, for his part, used The Force to keep changing the channel to the doctor show with the women. Tino hated the old man sometimes.

[OOC: I get out of work early and what do I do? Get Caritas up nice and early? Nope! Take a nap? Yep! And I'd do it again!]

She was in a new town, had juuuuust about nearly gotten her temporary hotel set up just the way she'd liked it, and it was a Friday. Like Charlotte wasn't going to pull out her map, trace her way over to a bar...slim selections, so she hoped this Caritas place was nice...and go and have herself a nice, celebratory Cosmo.

Just one, though. Maybe two. It was Good Friday, after all, and perhaps some discretion should be practiced.

Charlotte's ponytail whipped as her head turned to follow the sliding remote, and she smiled a little. She didn't know what that was, but it was kind of neat; she knew it wasn't uncommon for bartender to have neat little tricks like that, but, usually, the bars she went to were so busy you could barely notice them. A slight glance around this place told her that this might not be so much the case here.

"Hi," she said, making herself sound brighter than she felt. "Cosmopolitan, please."

Charlotte gained a bit more of a genuine smirk at the clear back-and-forth that the two bartender had been involved in. "I just moved here," she answered with a light smile, "from New York. And, well, it's a Friday night, I thought, what better way to getting a bit settled than checking out the, uh...night life." She gave the room another dubious look to indicated that, so far, it wasn't quite what she expected but she shrugged. It was kind of relaxing, in a way, and nice, to be able to enjoy a drink without so much noise and a lot less crowd. "And it's Charlotte, by the way." She offered out a hand. "Charlotte Mc--" She winced, closing her eyes tight with a silent reprimand as she caught herself again. "York," she corrected.

"Oh, just hopping," Charlotte said, nodding as she took the first small sip of her drink. She shook her head a little again at the flying remote. She wasn't going to, but she found that she just had to ask. "How are you doing that? I've seen a lot of bar tricks but that one's a little...well, I mean, I guess you couldn't do that one in in a busier bar, people could get hurt!"

"That who--"

Charlotte was about to take a sip and then move her finger back and forth to indicate the moving instrument, but she was cut off, mid-sip, her eyes widening in response to the dragging that was now going along with the moving.

"THAT."

She figured that covered it pretty clearly.

Frowning a bit skeptically, a bit suspiciously, Charlotte eyed this Tino bartender a bit over the rim of her Cosmo. Maybe it was all just an act or something. If that were the case, Tino was an exceptionally good actor. He had the dragging act down to complete and total believability. He should do sketch comedy.

"Huh."

That seemed to be Charlotte's ultimate, forehead-frowning conclusion on the matter.

"Plenty of what? People being dragged around by remotes?"

Oh. You mean that live band that wasn't alive that Charlotte's eyes had intentionally avoided looking at ever since the moment they first did see them and thought she saw a piece of cheek falling to the stage?

For someone whose eyes were as wide as they were right now, Charlotte intended on keeping them pretty firmly closed for a lot of things. "I've heard at least a little warning about things like that," she admitted, thinking of the girl at the hotel and rather dreading the fact that she forgot what day she said the naked fellow worked.

Charlotte wasn't entirely too fond of the twisting she was feeling in her stomach. Every twist, as well, was showing up on the pained expression on her face.

"Are they...really that...frequent, the weird things?" she asked, tentatively, uncertain if she wanted the answer.

Charlotte's frown deepened, and, by this point, she was leaning forward over the bar a little, lowering her voice as if about to talk about something very out of the range of political correctness. "What do you mean?" she said, her tone lowered to just barely above a whisper. "By...not human?"

"You mean, not a legal resident?" Charlotte sounded perhaps slightly scandalized. "Then how could be mayor?"

"Another planet?" Charlotte was very clearly skeptical of this claim, giving the bartender's arm a light tap with her hand as if chastising him for telling stories. "Come on. You probably pull that on all the new faces around here."

"You're going to need to get me a lot more of these," Charlotte said, pulling back with an earnest expression as she pointed at her emptying drink, "before I'll start believing things like that."

Charlotte just tilted her head, with an expression to attest to the image of unflappable skepticism that she was going to stick with.

"Maybe I will," Charlotte decided with a nod and the conviction that when she did, she would find absolutely nothing amiss. Besides, she wouldn't just stay home on a Saturday, anyway. Not like some pathetic newly divorcee. Not going to happen.
