Fandom Post Office, Monday, 3/24

Annette was situated behind the counter busily making a paperclip chain. Currently it was long enough to hang over the counter and drag on the floor below where Angel was swatting at it with her paws.

"Careful, Angel, you're going to get your claws cau--"

Mrrrrreeeeoooooow!

Annettte smirked. "Told you so."

There was much hopping and flailing about before Angel got her claws free and took off running towards the back of the post office.

Humming lightly, Annette continued with her chain, a little smirk settling about her mouth.

The post office was open.

And, toward the end of the day, as said, as expected, there was an A.J. ducking into the post office. It wasn't like it was a rare event for him to come in on Mondays to visit Annette, but he hadn't been here since Beauty left, and it took a bit of focus to help keep him from thinking about that. He was there to take Annette out for pizza, for her birthday, not dwell on the absence of his ex-girlfriend.

"Hey."

Annette looked up when the door opened. Her paperclip chain was now several feet long and she was more than a touch bored. So she smiled bright when she saw A.J., giving him a little finger wave.

"Hey you."

A.J. smirked a bit as his eyes followed the line of her paperclip chain. "Well," he commented, "it's good to see you've been hard at work all day."

"But notice the pink, blue, green, pink, blue, green? That takes handy eye-hand coordination," she smirked. "I've been working on those skills all day."

"I did notice!" A.J. commented with a widening grin. She was, after all, talking to an artist here. "It's quite the nice aesthetic, if I may say. So, tell me, do you think your skills have honed nicely over the day and you might be able to take a break for pizza with a nice guy, or would I just be interrupting your progress?"

Annette held up her hands and wiggled her fingers at him. "My fingers could definitely use a break and I could quit this place in a heartbeat to enjoy pizza with a nice guy." Smiling, she set a box of tacks on the countertop and raised a brow at him. "Help me string it up real quick?"

"Sure," A.J. said, moving forward to pick up an end of the paper clip chain, "but I should go find you that nice guy to have pizza with first, so you don't have to wait too long."

Coming out from around the counter, Annette grabbed the other end of the chain and began to back up, pulling it out carefully. "Uh-huh," she murmured, giving him a look. "More like I would be waiting forever for you to find that nice guy because knowing you, you would have to find the nicest of the nicest and hush, you so know you are taking me out for pizza." Grabbing a tack, she stuck the end of the chain to the edge of the counter.

"Or, so you're going to settle for me, huh?" A.J. asked with a grin, unashamed of his only slightly teasing lack of self-confidence, grabbing a tack himself and doing his part to put up the other end.

Annette started sticking tacks through the paperclips, working towards A.J. "Of course, besides, if you're willing to put up with me for an evening, not only are you nice, but you have to have the patience of a saint," she teased.

"Okay, there is that," A.J. admitted wryly, taking note of how Annette was tacking things up and trying to match her spacing from his end in.

It was just a sort of hanging garland fashion but the closer she got to A.J., the more she realized her chain was way too long. "Er, think I'm going to have to undo a foot or two." Which she did and stuck her end to the counter. "We need to unhook from your part, A.J. then poke yours in the counter. And oh, it's pretty!"

A.J. watched Annette a bit to get what she was saying, and then did the proper adjustments. "It does add a nice bit of color to the room, I have to admit. It's a good touch. I like it."

It was kind of dorky but when you're bored, hey, you use whatever means are available to you.

"I'm done now wasting time," she said, grinning. "And I'm gifting you with the extra two feet cause I'm nice like that."

"A veritable gushing fountain of niceness," A.J. agreed, reaching over to grab the excess of paper clips and drag them over to take them. "These might be perfect for a sculpture I'm working on, too, so look at that. Perfect!"

"Overflowing even," she teased and stepped behind the counter to grab her pocket book. "But maybe you should link the ends and put it around your neck so you don't lose it while we're getting our pizza groove on."

"I dunno," A.J. said thoughtfully, despite the fact that he was already putting his attention into doing just that. "I'm not sure this really goes with my outfit, Annette. Pinks and blues, not really my colors. I'm an earthtone."

"Don't forget there is green in there. It totally diffuses the pink somewhat," she told him, biting her lip to keep from giggling. "Seriously. And I made it. For you. I totally made it for you and think you should wear it proudly. Because I'm nice like that."

"Well, then," A.J. said, hooking the two ends together, "in that case..."

He looped it over his neck, straightened it a little, flattened it across his chest, and then struck his best model-y pose.

"What do you think? Does it work? Do I look all hot and stylish now?"

"You look so hot omigod. All the girls are going to be on you like white on rice," she said, hand to hip, checking him out.

[HEE! I just emailed you the exact same thing, omg!]

"I know," A.J. said, giving his hair a dashing toss. "We'll have to pick you up a stick on our way over to the pizza place, so you can beat them off."

Pssh. Yeah, right. The only girl that'd probably even bother with him anymore was... well, her.

"Shoot," she said, doing the z-snap as she started for the door. "Them girls better back off if they no what's good for 'em. I will whip out my handy dandy taser, see if I don't."

A.J. couldn't help chuckling. "I know I'm little outdated," he said, "but I really don't think a z-snap and the words 'handy dandy' are supposed to be used together, Annette."

Annette gave him a look. "Work with me A.J. I might be starting my own... trend. Yes. That's it."

A.J. smirked slightly, "Well, I'll just remember that next time I snap. Or use 'handy dandy.'"

He proved his point by complimenting his usage with said snap, and then smoothly twisted his arm around to a crook to offer to Annette. "Well, m'lady, shall we?"

She hooked her arm through his, smiling wide. "Indeed, sir, we shall."

"All right, then," A.J. grinned back. "Then, let's go (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2627302.html?thread=115691494#t115691494)."
