Best thing about the week after Easter: cheap Easter candy. Faith had stocked up a few days ago, and even brought some into work with her. If you asked nicely, she just might share.

Shawn came down at some point in the evening, and settled on a stool at the bar.

"You said Wednesdays?" he said, grinning at Faith.

"I did," Faith grinned. "First round's on me. What can I get you?"

"Since it's on you?" Shawn shrugged. "Totally your choice. I've never had 'we kicked stone angel ass' celebratory drinks before."

Okay, she had to crack a grin at that. "Totally kicked stone angel ass. Lemme see. You more a hard drinker or a lightweight? Beer, rum-and-Coke, whiskey sour, or hell, if you want one of those little drinks with umbrellas, I'm cool with it."

"No umbrellas," Shawn told her with a laugh. "I just don't think I can handle all the girly in one little drink."

Of the three, the only one he'd never tried, "Go with the whiskey sour."

"You got it," Faith said, snagging the handy bottle of Jack Daniel's and an empty glass. "You know, I've seen some freaky shit in my time? But those angels busting out claws and all that ... that's kinda high up my list."

Not topping it - not after Sunnydale - but seriously up there.

"It's up there with the robo-dinosaurs, aliens and trolls," Shawn agreed leaning forward on the bar.

"Funnily enough? Getting used to the weird damn stuff that goes on here."

"You should try living on a Hellmouth," Faith grinned. "Except you can't, the whole damn town's gone. Cleveland's got one, but fuck. Who wants to live in Cleveland?"

"I'll pass," Shawn said with a chuckle. "Between this town and Seattle? Got plenty enough weird crap going down for me."

"Seattle's weird?" Faith smiled. "Haven't heard about it cropping up as a hotspot. Oughta tell the Council to look into it. What kinda weird shit you get out there?"

"In my Seattle? Mostly just people like me." Shawn shrugged. "Weird abilities, that sort of thing."

"Get out, really?" Faith slid the completed whiskey sour over to him. "On me, like I said. I'll even hook you up with a refill. What kinda shit can you do? Magic stuff, or you just got cool reflexes and a wicked right hook, that kinda thing?"

Shawn laughed, taking the drink with a nod of thanks. "Not quite," he replied. "Healing hands." He waved his fingers for emphasis. Also, draining hands, but he didn't much like to advertise that side of it.

Faith grinned. "Seriously?" And then couldn't help cracking up. "You ever use that as a pick-up line?"

"Not so far." Shawn grinned. "That actually even the sort if thing that'd work?"

"Let me tell you a secret." Faith leaned over and lowered her voice. "Most of the time, the girl already made her mind up when she saw you across the room. We just pretend the line matters."

"That?" Shawn tapped the side of his head. "Going in here for future reference."

Faith grinned. "See? Bartenders know all kinds of useful shit. That's why people come to us for advice. That and, everybody needs a friend when they're drinkin', right?"

"I've heard drinking alone is a very sad situation to be found in," Shawn agreed. "Which is why I've never gone that route."

"Wish I could say the same," Faith said. "Bad night, drinking won't make it better, but it just might make that shit go away for a while, you know?"

"But this is where being a bartender comes in," Shawn said. "You always know exactly where to get the alcohol when you want it, and probably for cheap."

"Good point," she smirked. "And I don't drink alone much any more. This town ... this town kinda changes people. I don't get it. Everyone's ... nice, I guess. Sounds like a smarmy word, but ... you tell 'em bad things and they say, hey, people change. It's fuckin' weird."

Lounge.

Kicking myself because I picked up groceries earlier and forgot to check out the Easter candy on sale.
