Ino was… kinda hoping that Cable-san didn’t come downstairs today. She’d cried on him over the weekend, for goodness sake. That was totally embarrassing. Still though, that was no excuse to avoid work so she was sweeping and dusting and very definitely making sure her little self had watered the plants correctly.

She had. Ino was oddly proud of that fact.

Despite Ino's wishes, Cable was downstairs-- dog and all-- and checking over the stock.

Ino eyed him. "Yeah, we did." Clearly. "How're you, Cable-san?"

If it hadn't been fandom weirdness, he might've had have to do something about it. But that was really neither here nor there. "I'm fine," Cable commented, passing by the cases. "Now that everything seems back to normal..."

Probably a good thing he hadn't let any of the kids take anything.

Ino twitched. Just a bit. She should probably apologize for that right? Uh...

"And normal is definitely good." Ino nodded, totally in agreement of this. A beat. "Sorry for you know..."

The whole crying on him thing.

"Don't worry about it." He shot her a friendly look, brushing his hand over the side of the glass of one of the cases. "It happens." At least she hadn't tried to kill anyone...

"With the 'mean lady'," he returned, pushing the case open. "You skimped on the details." Earlier.

"You can't expect a good report from an over-wrought eight-year-old, Cable-san," Ino sighed. "I still don't get what the problem was, you know? But the mean lady was Lieutenant Kerrigan." At least she knew that now. "I showed up, I think she was trying to babysit or something 'cause she said if I managed to sit still I could have juice and bread. And... she said something about her head going to explode and I asked her if she meant literally the way Dad mentioned can happen out in the field and... it went from there."

And badly.

Different question than 'what the problem is'; her answer, if nothing more, should tell him a few things.

After a quick inspection - no more toys, no more corks - Cable shut the case.

Lana showed up. She was quiet and prety subdued today.

Ino glanced up at the sound of the door. "Hey, Lana!" She frowned a little. "You okay?"

Lana shrugged again. "I'm just... not fitting in here, not getting used to this time again. And I'm not sure I want to."

She leaned back in her chair at that, arms resting lightly against her stomach. "Well," Ino said sensibly. "Unless you go back in time again there's not much you can do about that."

"I seriously don't want to be here and if I could go back to before Joe found the note from Sam and destroy it..." Lana let out a deep breath. "You're the one always saying I shouldn't let things stop me from doing what I want."

Ino considered that. "Then go for it, sure. You're right. I guess I'm just a bit surprised that's all." Considering that Ino herself had utterly loathed being stuck in the past. "Have you thought about how to go about it then?"
