Groovy Tunes; Friday [ 04/04 ]
Chad leaned (carefully) on the counter, with a pile of pop CDs at one elbow, a pack of cards at the other, and a row of kittens in front of him in rapt attention. One might wonder how he managed to get their attention so well, but it might have something to do with the back that he'd put one of their little catnip mouse toys on his head. They weren't paying attention to Chad, then, but, instead, the drug-inducing item on his head. But it gave the illusion that they were listening to him, and that was good enough for Chad.
He was lecturing them, in English, because he didn't know if Melody's kittens knew Japanese like (he thought) Prince Oscar Pedro did. "This," he said, holding up one of the CDs. "This is crappy pop music. If we want to chase around and destroy CDs of crappy pop music, it's okay. We can do that. This," he set the CD down and picked up one of the Pocket Monster cards, "are cards. Apparently, some of them can be worth money. Also, they're cute, see? Well. Some of them. Anyway, it's not okay to chew on them and play with them, like it is crappy pop music. We can't ruin these. It's not good. Got it?"
There were going to be at this all day, really.

Talk to Chad -- 04/04

For a brief second, he also glanced over his shoulder to see if Orihime had suddenly showed up without warning, but, he was thinking it really didn't look like one of her fairies, anyway.

Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
Still, Chad had no idea what the fairy wanted, and he blinked a few more times before he said, rumbling, "Uh. Hi. Can I help you? You need music?"
Because it didn't take a brainiac to figure out that someone would come here for music.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
She dug her wand out of her cleavage and danced her iPod forward. iPod! Music! And then frowned. All of it sucked! Boo, hiss, boring music! Also she didn't get a Nano yet, and she wanted one. Did they sell those here?
But yes! Music, please!
Tink would possibly be more clear if she didn't keep getting distracted. Very small brain, though.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
"You...need more music for your iPod, because you don't like what you have?" he guessed. "Can I see it? So I can see what you do have?"
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
Speaking of her pint-sized bootay, did he realize there were vicious tigers in here? Someone might want to take care of that. Tink swooped a little higher, watching the beasts nervously.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
"Hmmm..." Chad sorted through the music on the iPod thoughtfully, wondering what might be good to suggest in this sort of vein. "Into much J-Pop?"
He wondered if he was too quick to suggest J-Pop for a lot of people, but it did seem like it might work.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
Oh! Right! Music! J-pop? She'd never really gotten into it, no. Was it good?
She was so very sad that most of her music-sharing communities had gone dead. Where was she supposed to get mash-ups and remixes and pirated tracks now?
And did he realize there were psychopathic carnivores watching her every move?
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
"Uhhh, well..." Chad started to move from behind the counter so he could show the little fairy to the right area of the store. "Some of it's good. Some of it's not. Kind of a matter of taste really."
From there, as he sorted and picked through a variety of different CDs, he gave Tinkerbell a very elaborate, detailed, rumbling speech about a bunch of different kinds of J-Pop, its more influential bands and singers, and even the various different phases its gone through in the past few decades.
It was...a pretty sizable information dump, really, ended finally when Chad looked over to the fairy and asked if any of that sounded like something she might be looking for.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
Five minutes later she was back, a floating stack of CDs in front of her. Most of them were some of the more interesting-sounding J-Pop selections from his list, with a couple of other albums she'd been meaning to pick up.
And right on top of the stack was ABBA, which had gotten there entirely by accident because it wasn't hers and she never, ever got weepy listening to Fernando and if he told anyone about this she would hurt him.
And did he really just work with dangerous panthers? Did he have scars on his ankles? Someone should notify animal control.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
Or just stretching because he happened to have followed Tinkerbell into a nice spot of sunshine that felt very nice.
Chad, meanwhile, arched an eyebrow at the ABBA, but it was well hidden in his hair. He cleared his throat a little. "Nice choices," he said. "How do you do that, anyway? Get 'em to float like that? S'pretty cool."
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
That tiger was going to eat her! Did he see it? She was going to hide behind the cash register here and use this CD as a shield. Back! Back! She'd smack the cougar in the face with it if she had to! Grrrrrr!
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
"That's not what you use those for, ma'am...."
Flopsy, the tiger in question, proved true to his or her name and flopped over into the spot of sunlight once the stretching was done.
"Wait, what CD is that?"
Chad checked.
Creed.
Ugh.
"Nevermind. Do what you want with it. I suggest burning."
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
Tink zoomed the CD up into the air, spun it around a few times, and then slammed it into the far wall. Smash!
Wow. That was far more satisfying than she had anticipated. And she owed him for calling off the vicious lion-beast, that was ever so kind.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
At the moment, though, he just nodded, impressed at the fairy's work.
"Nice one," he said, giving her a thumbs up.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
So how much did she owe him? She brought money. Real actual cash money. Because sometimes people came into her shop and offered her shiny rocks and goats and seriously, people, money. Ugh.
Re: Talk to Chad -- 04/04
Chad took a moment to ring up the fairy's selections, and gave her the
