Jen had no idea why the little gold-plated Allen wrench that had come with the IKEA catalog she'd gotten on Monday was so fascinating, but she'd been carrying the stupid thing around with her everywhere and was currently turning it over in her hands as she stood behind the counter.

Hey, it was less dorky than constantly making fangirly calls to Jungle Karma Pizza, right?

And there was a banana-suited Sky, there on his lunch break, as was becoming his habit. He looked distracted about something, but had to smirk to himself when he saw the menu board.

"Hey, Jen. Such creative specials you somehow come up with every week."

"I try," Jen replied, grinning at him and pocketing the wrench. "How's life in tropical fruit land?"

"Uneventful so far," Sky replied. "I'm so bored I'm starting to argue with Eddie." He pointed out the door, to where the seagull sat perched on a trash can, peering intently into the shop. "I told him to go find another person to steal from, but he followed me over anyway."

"I feel like I should be really disturbed by the idea of a seagull with a banana obsession, somehow," Jen remarked as she glanced toward Eddie. "Which is by far not the weirdest thing I've ever heard of."

"It's disturbing to me, too," said Sky. "I think he follows me around because Mr. Manager is nice to him, so he expects the same from me. ...Stupid bird. Anyway, how have you been?"

"You mean besides randomly and inexplicably a boy the other day?" Jen grimaced. "It's been quiet, mostly. I can't complain."

"Yeah," Sky agreed. "I'm worried a little about Troy... my boyfriend. I haven't heard from him in a few days. He was one of the people that got abducted by those angel statues..." He trailed off, then finally absorbed Jen's first statement. "Hah. Was it strange to be a boy for the day? I noticed it happened to Dr. Mizrahi and a few others, too ~~though my plague-infested mun forgot about it, blah~~."

"But there's nothing like that going on right now," Jen said, doing her best to reassure him. Which, considering it was Jen, might be kind of dodgy.

She grimaced again. "It was . . . weird. I don't even know."

"Yeah... still, ever since that happened, I worry. It sounds a little pathetic, I know..." He then rubbed the back of his banana-suited head. "I can't imagine physically being a girl. It'd be waaayyy too weird. Being a little kid again for the day was strange enough." He wasn't going to bring up the PMS thing from earlier in the year because yeah, awkward.

"Hey," Jen objected playfully. "There's nothing weird about being a girl!"

"Of course not, if you're normally one. And even then it's a little weird," said Sky, also teasingly.

"Not as weird as being a guy," Jen retorted, laughing. "What can I get you today?"

"True. Especially being a guy in a banana costume. Hmm... just a slice of pepperoni to go, please." Next, of course, came the shuffling dance Sky had to do to get his wallet out of his pocket. "Stupid... banana... suit..."

"Is saying 'stupid banana suit' a required part of the wallet dance?" asked Jen, who'd given up on pretending not to be amused by said dance, as she popped Sky's pepperoni slice into the oven to heat up for a minute.

"Oh, yes. It makes reaching into the suit so I can find my pocket easier," Sky said sarcastically. "It sounds better than saying 'open sesame'."

"Well, you have to say something when you're doing the move," Jen deadpanned, "otherwise how is anybody going to know what exactly it is you're doing inside that suit?"

"Oh, right... it's good practice for being a Ranger, too." Having finally managed to get his wallet out of his pants ~~not dirty~~, Sky straightened up and readjusted the banana suit. "I just hope the fact that I sell frozen bananas doesn't get me laughed at too hard back at S.P.D. It'll be hard enough getting Z to take me seriously, especially because she has photographic evidence."

"Oh, it's not that bad," Jen said. "As far as Ranger careers go, there've been worse. I mean, you could have been a wild boy raised in the jungle by animals."

"Like Cole, yeah," said Sky, nodding, recognizing the Red Lion Ranger's name immediately. "That's true enough, I guess. And didn't the pizza shop the Jungle Fury Rangers worked at have a pizza costume?"

"Possibly," Jen said. "~~But I'm two episodes behind.~~ The history books a thousand years from now don't tend to cover those details, though."

Not that she was in any way now contemplating a field trip just to find out.

"~~Then my mun will zip the lip~~ That's true. Anyway, I'm sure they'd want such details erased." Like I'll be doing with any and all evidence that I ever wore a banana costume. "They're Rangers this year, right? I'd love to see the three of them in action... especially another Red Ranger." A dreamy look briefly crossed Sky's face. "But I know, time anomalies prevent me."

"Yeah," Jen said with the same dreamy look on her face. "I called Jungle Karma the other week and Theo actually picked up the phone. Stupid possibility of breaking the timeline. I've already done that enough."

"It would be nice, but yes, there's been enough timeline-breaking just by being at Fandom, I think." Sky had to stifle a small laugh at the mental picture of Jen calling the pizza shop and fangirling, before getting an idea. "You know, speaking of Red Rangers... I still have my dad's old helmet. I mean... if you'd like to see it sometime."

"You do?" asked Jen, forgetting for the moment what the SPD uniforms from that era had ~~been shamelessly recycled from~~ looked like. "That's so cool that you keep it. Sure, I'd love to come check it out."

"Yeah... I got it the day he... you know. It's one of my most prized possessions." He smiled with a faint hint of pride. "I'm in room 407 back at the dorms, so you can stop by any time."

Good thing Jen remembered to take his pizza out of the oven before it got too crispy, huh? "I will," she said, boxing the pepperoni slice and handing it over. "I can understand how you'd want to hold on to something like that."

She wondered if Wes still had the Time Force badge she'd given him.

"Thanks," said Sky, taking his pizza and handing over his total. "I'd better get back to work... it was a pleasure talking to you as usual, though."

"The pleasure is all mine," replied Jen gamely, her hand halfway to her forehead in an aborted salute that made her feel silly. "Good luck with the seagull."

Socket wrenches are fun too. With the clicky noises.

Tom was half hidden behind the counter today. His overenthusiasm at trying to make pizza-crepes yesterday had left an unsightly burn on his nose and left cheek.

It's best not to ask exactly how that happened.

And now I want to go to Lowe's and play with power tools, WTF.
