Michael had Tether in tow when he arrived at Pizza Planet this morning. Well, he was hardly going to lock the poor abandoned puppy in his room all day.

Specials:

Thin crust with tandoori sauce, topped with blue cheese, gorgonzola, zucchini, lobster and prawns

Sourdough crust with olive oil, topped with mozzarella, cashews, almonds, green olives and bacon

Whole wheat crust with red sauce, topped with parmesan, green onions, fresh jalapenos and blackened chicken

Pizza Planet was open.

And then there were two dogs in the store, and one was looking up at Michael. "Woof?"

Out of the corner of his mouth, Gaspode added, in Dog, "//Pay attention, kid. I'll show you how it's done.//"

"Hey again", Michael said, already heading to where the box of pepperoni slices was kept.

Tether looked at Gaspode attentively. "//How what's done?//"

Gaspode wasn't begging. That would be undignified.

"Woof! ...An' some sausage, too."

He looked pointedly at Tether and then nodded at Michael. "//Life. Food. An' wossname. Always remember, THEY serve US, not the other way 'round.//"

"Yeah, okay, sausage as well."

He wasn't fazed by a 'talking' dog. This was Fandom.

"//He scritches my ears.//"

"//'Course he does. An' of course you like it. But where's it gonna lead? Sit, stay, roll over, fetch? And, if you're not careful, BATHS. Naw, trust me, kid, 's better to be on your own.//"

"//... but it's cold.//"

When he pings in.

A puppy! In his pizza parlor! Tom was very excited and bouncy at this development.

"Puppy-sitting", Michael explained. "He's my teacher's, but he's gone out of town."

Somewhere.

"He's cute," said Tom, offering a slice of pepperoni to Tether. "And he's more than welcome here; I'd hate for him to be left alone with nobody to take care of him."

Tether snaps the meat up eagerly.

"Cable says I spoil him", Michael said with a half-grin. "But hey, he got left with me, I spoil him as much as I want. His name's Tether."

Tom reached over to pet Tether.

"And well you should," he said. "You have to make sure he stays happy, after all."

"Course I do." He grinned. "Tried to knock me over when I went to fetch him."
