The Park - Early Evening

It wasn't necessarily the way that Chris would have chosen to spend the first weekend he and Summer were officially together, but it was definitely good anyway.

After feeding the kids and spending some time hanging around the dorms, Chris and Summer decided that a picnic in the park would be a great idea for dinner. The kids could run around and burn off some energy and maybe they'd run into some other people.

They made a handwavy stop for groceries and spread a blanket in the grass.

"They are way too cute," Chris said to Summer.

"They definitely are," Summer agreed, watching them play. "Matt looks so much like you."

"It's funny to see how much he's changed," Chris said. "And, given how old he was last time... you must have been pregnant with Madison. He just never mentioned that part."

He reached over to take her hand. "It definitely seems like a nice future."

Summer just shook her head. "I can't believe I could be a mom someday. I just never thought of myself as the mom type, you know?"

Kristofer snuck away from his mommy and daddy because he needed to roam around and check things out for himself.

He found himself in the park, standing around, hands shoved in his pockets.

"Kristofer!" Matthew was excited to spot his friend. "You're here too!"

"Kristofer!" Madison said, bouncing. "Hi hi hi!"

Gracie loved the park, which explained why she was running around like a maniac, with her father following behind her looking stressed and carrying a cup of coffee.

Chris glanced over and recognized Savannah's older brother. He chuckled at how stressed the older man looked. "Hey, Sean!" he called.

"Hey!" Sean called back, making his way over and managing to keep an eye on the whirling dervish he called his daughter. "I always knew kids had a bundle of energy, but I never knew it was this much."

Victoria was walking through the park with her parents. When she spotted her cousins, she went running ahead. "Maddie! Matty!"

"Victoria!" Madison cried happily, blinking slightly. She looked a little older than Madison was used to.

"Hi hi hi!" Victoria said, then cocked her head. "You're small."

Even though she'd done this once before and shouldn't have been surprised, Isabel was still somewhat startled that Victoria was actually there. Despite the pictures Wyatt had taken in class, she'd always been a bit of a happy maybe/possibly to Isabel. To see her, to play with her, made her existence seem so much more real.

Happily, Isabel squeezed Wyatt's hand as they followed more sedately behind Victoria.

Chris grinned as he walked over to talk to his brother. "This might possibly be the best weekend ever," he declared.

Anders had taken his kids out for dinner at Ching Tai, but apparently neither Artemis nor Pandora was vaguely tired yet.

"It's scary how much energy you guys have," he grumbled, only to have Artemis point out that both Dad and Mommy Phoebe said the same thing about him sometimes, at which point he hastily offered to take them to the park to play instead of explain why that trait of his was commented on so often.

"Oh, hey. Looks like you guys have, uh, cousins to play with."

"Hiya, Uncle Anders!" Matt waved and wondered who the strange girls were with his uncle.

". . . cousins I don't know," Anders added under his breath. "Hey, kiddo. Do me a favor and remind me who you are again?"

"Hi guys!" Isabel waved, recognizing Artemis and Pandora from last year's invasion. "It's good to see you again."

And she'd have two little girls racing over to tacklehug her knees, while Anders futilely yelled "Hey, hey, go easy, this isn't the court!" after them.

"Aunt Isabel!" crowed both Pandora and Artemis, both of them attempting to climb her.

Kristof had fun eating the pizza and made a beeline for the park, Adam right behind him. He wanted to play now!

Adam shook his head as he watched Kristof run ahead of him. "Be careful!" It wasn't like Adam was going to let him out of his sight, but still, he felt better saying it.

Kristof seemed like a smart boy, but hey, Adam was the parent here. He had a right to be a little worried.

Robin was in the park strumming on his banjo. He wasn't playing anything really, just playing. He took requests.
