Caritas, Saturday evening

D'Argo knew today was graduation, he knew there would be people headed in to do a lot of drinking. That happened when people got their first real taste of Fandom.

So today there was a sign:

Furst rownd on the house for tramatizzed Fandom new bees

A zombie wrote it. So really, that was impressive.

[I'm going to be at work, but don't want people to miss out if drinking needs to be done. Just mod Tino till about 6 or 7 PST. And remember what the graduation OOC says- the events of post 2 will be hard to avoid, so you might want to hold off pinging till then so you don't Joss yourself.]

Leaving his sister for a while - although she had told him she would show up later - Simon found a place by the bar and ordered a glass of what he hoped was a good wine. It turned out to be drinkable but then he couldn't be fussy nowadays.

Romeo was puzzled as he entered the bar. He'd been in Virginia; now he was in Greece. Even if he and Yurika hadn't been planning it, even without not-Juliet, this required drinking.

"But I just don't understand where the fairies came from," he told her, for about the 500th time.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Don't understand," she said, giving him a firm push through the door. "Just be happy they weren't trying to kill us." What? The new graduates had handled the situation just fine.

"Now, let's celebrate being seniors in style. What can I get the fine gentleman?"

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Would we could have fought them," Romeo said regretfully. "But I will try to be happy, as the lady requests."

"And I think he would like a vodka tonic."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Dōjima rolled her eyes and smirked as she flagged down Tino. "Boys. Always looking for a fight, I swear. I wouldn't want to face down a fairy lord!"
withoutverona: (pouting like whoa)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
"But they turned to mud so easily," Romeo protested, still sad he had missed the fight. "It seemed like almost every graduate killed at least one."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps we should go for a walk in the park tonight? Make sure they've all gone?" See? Dōjima could be subtle when needed. "Maybe we'll find a few to chase down to the beach."
withoutverona: (laughing)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
He laughed, appreciating both the attempt at subtlety and the invitation. "Perhaps," he agreed. "Though the beach might be nicer yet without company. And this week we can walk over into Greece."

And that was a weird sentence, there.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Dōjima groaned and dropped her head to the bar. "One of these days, this island is going to break me, I know it."

"However, this is weirdness I intend to use. I'm going over to Greece, and laying out on the beach for an entire day. Fandom can randomly vanish on me if it wants, I do not care. There is sand and food and ouzo, and I intend to take advantage of it."
withoutverona: (from a distance)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I think you're right and it wants to break us all," Romeo said. "It's not always such a bad ride, though." It gave him present company, for example.

"But I am with you for all of that save the ouzo. And if the island vanishes, worse things have happened."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"How can you like absinthe and not ouzo?" she teased, accepting their drinks from Tino. "If we get left-behind, we'll bum around Europe on my father's credit card until he notices and tosses us on the next plane back to the States."
withoutverona: (sad hours seem long)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Romeo took a long sip of vodka tonic before answering. "I don't like licorice," he grimaced. "I tolerated it more than enough in Paris."

Far, far, far more than enough, really.

"Do you think it's wise to put me on your father's credit card?" Because that was clearly the only flaw in the plan.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Try the ouzo sometime with raspberry syrup and lemonade," she suggested, sipping her own drink thoughtfully. "My father would have to notice, which means someone in finance would have to tell him. I think I have most of them suitably bribed and/or cowed enough not to talk. If they did, well, there would be yelling. Possibly the threat of getting pulled from the school, but he wouldn't follow through. It's safer for him to keep me here than at home."

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds girly but not bad," Romeo said, filing the cocktail recipe in the (rather large) part of his brain devoted to such things. "I always learn something from you."

He flashed a grin. "So it's pay for us in Europe, or there's a Dojima rampant in Tokyo?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Pretty much, and the last time I went on a bender in Tokyo, um, I ended up on a plane to some boarding school in America!" Dōjima raised her glass in a toast and beamed angelically. "He really doesn't want a repeat of that."
withoutverona: (Montague)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Romeo raised his glass to meet hers. "To well-timed unrepeatable benders, then," he said. "Do I want to ask what you did, or should it be shrouded in mystery?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
"To very well-timed unrepeatable benders," she agreed. "Let's just say I had an eventful New Year's, and leave it at that for now. Now is for our first senior bender, and we should celebrate properly."

"Besides, I've still got the tabloid my father threw at my head when he found out, if you want me to translate it for you later."
withoutverona: (Looking down)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Seniors," Romeo repeated. "A year until graduation." He leaned back on his stool, closing his eyes as he imagined what kind of New Years would make the tabloids. He'd take her up on that offer of translation, later. "I never expected it to be that close."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I might actually graduate high school. Weird." Dōjima knocked back the rest of her scotch and signaled Tino for another. "I always thought I'd drop out by the end of my junior year."
withoutverona: (most sensitive boy)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"What would you have done?" Romeo asked, flashing for a second cocktail as well. "I rather thought I was done after sophomore year." Which was true even without Juliet; his world had little use for higher education, and a 16-year-old was a man.

He shrugged. "My father would have found something for me to do eventually."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Savannah was on a bar stool, staring into her glass of rum.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Either way, my father will find something to do with me." She wrinkled her nose in distaste. "I'm a Dōjima. Since I'm a girl, college isn't necessary. I'll spend few token years working for my father or one of his allies, and then he'll try and bring me to heel." Romeo could probably infer the rest of it, based on his own upbringing.

Dōjima's head snapped up suddenly and her smile was far from friendly. "He can try."
withoutverona: (sulking and looking down)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty sure my father thinks college is where people who lack family connections or gumption enough to make it on their own go," Romeo said flatly. "I'm taking a workshop on the college process, at least." Not that he knew what he could do, but he'd gotten the sense college was needed in the world outside Verona.

He inferred more than enough from what she said, and brought a hand over to rest on her back. "You might bring him to heel instead."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Your father is an ass. I haven't forgotten that he hung up on me the weekend we were little," she said, relaxing slightly at his touch. "Yeah? You'll have to show me your notes. I doubt my transcripts are good enough to get in anywhere, but I could always try."
withoutverona: (B+W serious)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"He loves me but he's old, more than anything," Romeo responded, poking at his ice with a stirrer. "He was nearing 50 when I was born. I think he's still thrown I'm not a miniature of him."

"My transcripts," he had to admit, "aren't horrible. The priests graded me easily, and I think I'll do well enough here. Though I did miss a semester."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Romeo the miracle-baby!" she teased, sliding one hand over to rest on his leg. "How very shocking, that you grew up to be a person!"

"My transcripts here are fine, if a bit hard to explain to a school. How do you keep a straight face when telling a college recruiter that you passed Spycraft with flying colors?"
withoutverona: (lips only)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"I think he's still recovering from the surprise of it all," Romeo said, with something beyond teasing behind his eyes.

He considered the question. "Perhaps you say it shows your initiative?" Adults always seemed to like initiative, as long as it was for something like a class. "Or your skill in investigative work? I would think cool class would be the really hard one."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
"At least I didn't sign up for Bell-sensei's class this summer! That might be even harder to rationalize!" There needed to be more drinking and less seriousness, so Dōjima half-drained her glass. "I'll admit, I was wondering if actual class-names are changed on our records, to protect the guilty. Or innocent."
withoutverona: (romeo romeo!)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"You could TA for it, maybe," Romeo suggested. "I don't know, but they must doctor our records somehow, for the time travelers if nothing else."

She was draining her glass; that was an excellent idea, and Romeo did the same and gestured for a third. "How hard would it be to get you to sing?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I have no fear of karaoke, it's a Japanese tradition," she replied, smirking. "I did just fine for our coolness final. I objected to our day of involuntary singing because it was inconvenient, and I was sober."

Johnny was pretty much doing the same thing, even as he commented, "So... Greece."

Yeah, he wasn't too up there in the thinking department tonight.
withoutverona: (B+ W grin)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
And because you all but said you loved me, but they'd already had that fight; Romeo saw no point in having it again.

"Then go," he suggested, sloshing his glass toward the stage. "Consider it a dare."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"I always wanted to visit Greece but..."

She swallowed the shot.

Johnny was enjoying beer tonight. "It is beautiful..."

He sratched his head.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Hai hai," she laughed, smiling at him over her drink. "Let me finish this first, and then you can get me a refill while I'm singing."

"Then it's your turn, aijin."
withoutverona: (sad hours seem long)

Re: The Bar

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-05-04 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
She already knew what his voice was like, so he couldn't plead for an exemption on those grounds. "I accept the deal," he said instead, smiling back. "Aijin?"

Re: The Bar

"It really is," she agreed, getting another drink.

Re: The Stage

Since she had been dared (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2757297.html?thread=120265393#t120265393), Dōjima (tipsily) made her way up to the stage and sang (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk58p1jeCCA).

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh-huh." Yurika leaned forward slowly before whispering the meaning into his ear. She didn't have to whisper, but she wanted to add a few suggestions to the language lesson.

Grinning evilly, she pulled away and smiled at him before finishing her drink and standing up to go sing (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2757297.html?thread=120268721#t120268721).

Romeo was feeling just fiiiiiine as he made his way to the stage, yes. She'd sung and now he had to sing 'cause that was how it worked.

However, he was the one with the brilliant idea of an NWA cover.

Re: The Bar

She sang! She sang pretty and ... why was she calling herself a bitch? But it was a good song.

Not that that stopped Romeo from some enthusiastic clapping. and cheering as he ordered the fresh round.

"You're awesome," he told her as she retook her seat, leaning over to give her a quick kiss. "My turn?"

He was on his way to the stage before she could answer.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Dōjima laughed and cheered after his song, reaching out to pull him close and kiss him throughly once he returned. "Mmmm...good job. Hey Tino! Onegai, bring us some shots! Bartender's choice!"

Yes, he had just brought the fresh drinks. That wasn't going to stop Dōjima.
