Mary was still very excited about being in the Greek islands. She couldn't wait to check out those beaches. Today, she used her time at the front desk to order a new swimsuit.

Who knows? Maybe her good mood is infectious.

Hoshi showed up with Porthos tagging along at her heels. She looked at the specials board while fiddling with the ends of her scarf. "Miss Connell, how did you find the Greek names for the food?" she asked.

"The Internet is a marvelous thing, Hoshi," replied Mary. "What can I do for you today?"

"Well, I wanted to let you know that I might miss my shift on Wednesday," said Hoshi nervously. "A couple of new friends are going to Rhodes, which is another Greek island, and they invited me to go with them. I won't be back until Thursday night. It's just that there aren't any classes this week and it seemed like a good opportunity for a longer trip."

"That won't be a problem at all, Hoshi!" said Mary. "It sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you have a really good time, and don't worry about Wednesday at all. I'll be happy to cover for you."

Mary looked over at Hoshi's puppy. "Is Porthos going with you?" she asked.

"No, I don't think they'll let him on the ferry," said Hoshi. "My next stop is to find someone to watch him while I'm gone."

"Oh, don't worry about it. I'd be happy to watch Porthos for you," said Mary. "He'll be right at home here in the hotel anyway. It's been too quiet anyway since my future twins left."

"Are you sure it wouldn't be a problem?" asked Hoshi. She looked at Porthos, who had already curled up to take a nap in his usual spot right next to the front desk.

"See? He'll be just fine with me," said Mary. "Now, have a good time on your trip and bring me back a postcard, okay?"

"Thank you, Miss Connell," said Hoshi, relieved.

Still coughing, but getting better, at least.
