The Park, Tuesday Afternoon

Andrew had a bag of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a stack of books, and a pocket full of action figures. Sprawled out in the grass, he was attempting to reenact one of his favorite Space Battles fight scenes, but his heart just wasn't in it. His imitation blaster sounds just didn't sound as authentic as usual and he skipped his highly practiced action figure death throws in favor of simply flicking the figure backward.

After getting out of Aly's class, Gwen found herself wandering in the park. "Afternoon."

Andrew peered up from his spot in the grass. "Hi there," he replied with a smile. "I don't think we've met."

"Probably not," Gwen said, smiling back as she sat down. "I only just arrived on Friday. Gwen Cooper."

"Nice to meet you Gwen Cooper," he said. "I'm Andrew, Andrew Wells."

Andrew reached over and grabbed his bag of sandwiches. "Hungry?" he asked. "I made extra."

"Nice to meet you too, Andrew," Gwen said, reaching for a sandwich. "Thank you, I am a bit hungry."

"I would offer you something to drink," he said looking through his bag, "but I seem to have forgotten that part of the whole lunch thing. Probably for the best though. I think I'm bloated."

He stuck his hand out towards Gwen and flexed his fingers. "Do these look swollen to you?" They were pretty normal looking.

Gwen considered them carefully for a moment, nonetheless. "No, they look just fine to me."

Amber was out and about, running a few errands before her 5th period class. Cutting through the park she noticed Andrew and after her conversation yesterday with Liir, she figured she should say hello.

So that is what she did. "Hi, Andrew."

Andrew looked up and smiled. "Hi, Amber Atkins. Enjoying the lovely day?"

"It's pretty, yah," she smiled. "Mind if I sit down and join you for a bit?"

"Sure, I'm not the type to turn away the company of a pretty lady," he replied. "We haven't chatted in a while. How ya been?"

Amber plopped down on the grass almost directly across from him. "I've been good. Keepin' to myself mostly but now that classes have started, I'm darin' myself to get out a bit more, you know? How are you; I heard you've been gone?"

"I am a mixed bag of emotions at the moment," he replied, absently picking at some grass. "These past few weeks have been... different." And the one person he thought would be able to appreciate it all seemed upset with him over it.

Luke was out wandering again today. "Oooh, are those Space Battles action figures?" he asked, eyes lighting up. "Original or prequels?"

"Prequels," Andrew replied quickly. "All of my originals are either still in the package or in a vacuum sealed and UV protective case."

"Smart," Luke praised, flopping down on the grass. "Those things'll be worth money if you could bring yourself to sell them." He smiled. "Back home I had almost the complete collection of 1/16th sized Imperial space ships. Aunt Beru wouldn't let me get one of the Star Destroyers. It's weird that tiny plastic things are universal, huh?"

Andrew smiled. "Your space ships have funny names," he said. "But little tiny plastic things are just awesome. Their universality just proves it."

"My father said he used to be on a plastic figure," Luke offered with a grin. "Apparently years and years ago you could collect the entire Jedi Order. Now it's mostly just tie-ins for holos."

"Your father is a pretty awesome guy," Andrew said, probably failing totally at keeping the awe out of his voice. He was a little jealous.

"What's a holo, exactly? Is that like a movie?"

Sokka walked by... and stopped, looked at what Andrew was doing, and backed up.

"ANDREW!" he called. "I need your help!"

Andrew glanced up. "My help? For what?" he asked.

"A matter of utmost importance!" Sokka replied, even though he'd totally forgotten about it for weeks. "The guy -- Richard -- something -- the guy who was in that thing -- Dreyfuss, that's it. Richard Dreyfuss. He wasn't ever in Space Battles, was he?"

"Richard Dreyfuss? In Space Battles?" Andrew shook his head. "Nope. Though there was a Saturday Night Live skit in which Darrell Hammond played Richard Dreyfuss as auditioning for the part of one of the droids."

"HA! Ha HA! Tell Jamie that, then! He owes me a... A... You know, I don't think we ever put an actual bet on it. Still. HA!"

Sokka took a break from basking in his right-ness to peer more closely at Andrew. "You all right?" he asked.

"I'm great," Andrew lied, though the slouching shoulders said otherwise. "Though I am a bit tired."
