Groovy Tunes, Tuesday, 5/13
Alice reached the store shortly before noon, still astonished that she'd been hired yesterday and hoping very much not to be fired in as short a time span. She would be polite and calm and try to remember everything Chad said. Perhaps she should take notes.
Chad gave Alice thehandwavey rundown of the store and how to open, close, ring up customers, sort out some of those discs, and so on. He was also kind enough to explain how to open up CDs that she might listen to them while she worked.
Alice was starting over at A and selecting anything which leaped out at her, which meant rather a lot of A Perfect Circle, AC/DC, and AFI today. (ABBA had been selected but quickly discarded again as not quite her style.) And Dinah was settling in nicely to the store.
Groovy Tunes was open.

Talk to Alice (5/13)
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
And maybe because she had a completely adorable cat. And Prince Oscar Pedro (really, it was Prince Oscar Pedro) had been starting to miss Dinah...
"Hey, Alice."
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
She had also been working her way through a stack of CDs, but that seemed less tactful to tell your manager.
Dinah was, of course, thrilled to see Prince Oscar Pedro again. (Chad as well.)
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"Yeah," Chad said, a little sadly. "It gets kind of dead around here sometime, but that's good. That gives you lots of time to research."
Chad figured that calling it research made it sound very ambitious and professional and a lot easier to explain to Melody when she got back.
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"Research," Alice said, jumping at the word happily. That seemed a very nice word indeed. "So I might have a better background to recommend music with. I've certainly been brushing up on my research."
As the stack behind her indicated quite well.
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"Anything particularly jumping out at you yet?" he wondered.
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
She flushed. "I'm afraid I've yet to get halfway through the As."
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"There's...a lot of music out there," he told her, meaning to be encouraging. "Even a quarter of the way is pretty good."

"Excuse me," he said sternly, "Do you carry Klingon opera?"
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"I've no idea," she said calmly. "This is my first shift. The plastic CDs seem to be categorized by genre and artist, generally, but I haven't seen any cling-ons mentioned."
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
Worf then strode to the cd racks and did a vigilant search through all of them. Finding none he returned to the counter. "I see none. Can you recommend something with themes of honorable battle and romance in the face of destruction?"
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"The Aerosmith had a song about a gentleman who appeared to be a lady," she offered. "Another pointing out that love proves to be difficult on the knees and other joints."
She wasn't sure what an elevator was, or why one would fall in love while within one; best to skip that.
(OOC: thus making Alice the first person over the age of twelve who found Steven Tyler's double entendres confusing.)
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"Was the love difficult because one of the romantic partners crushed the knees and hands of their lover?"

He grinned at the girl behind the counter. "Excuse me miss, where do you keep your records?"
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
She was actually proud of herself for knowing that much.
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
He glanced towards the wall of cassettes. "Great! I can get some of those, but where are all the vinyls?"
Ooh, boy. This could get interesting. Don't you just love time disparities?
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"Over here," she said, escorting him to the vinyl section. Music geeks were very helpful in bridging those time gaps, weren't they?
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"So what kind of music do you like?"
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"I've not heard most of it, though, I'm afraid. I've only started working here today."
Re: Talk to Alice (5/13)
"First day on the job, I'd say you're doing pretty well. My first day won't be til Thursday." He paused as that actually sank in. "Whoa. I'm actually gonna to teach a bunch of kids to fly. That's so cool!"
