JGOB- Thursday evening

Jaye hadn't actually been back to JGOB since graduating, and for a while she stood awkwardly at the counter trying to order a muffin while making awkward conversation with clerk.

"So... how ya been?"

Silence.

"How's the hooker girlfriend?"

Glare.

"I'll be over here," Jaye finally said, and went to sit at a table to wait.


[I'm so bored. Open!]

Ned stared back.

"You're making absolutely no sense," Ned said. "And I'm beginning to wonder if you ever make sense."

"Not usually. What's your name, Not-Aaron?"

His name would now forever be Not-Aaron, but still.

"My name is Ned," he said, wondering what she'd do if he threw the muffin at her. "I'm not Aaron and we do not share the same mother."

"Yeah, my brother looks exactly like you," Jaye said, studying him critically. "Scruffier. You'd think I'd be used to the doppleganger thing by now."

And then a horrible thought occurred to her.

"Oh my god tell me this doesn't mean I have to date you."

Ned was back to staring.

A lot.

"What?"

"No! Don't dwell on it! Do not repeat it! Oh my god, I just squicked myself so bad..."

"You're the one who said it!" Ned said, flailing so badly that the muffin ended up flying out of his hand and headed for her head.

Which meant Jaye ended up getting hit in the head with a muffin.

She stared at it as it hit the floor, and asked, "Why does everyone throw pastries at me?"

"I didn't throw it," Ned said, staring at the muffin. "It slipped."

"Uh huh, sure. Well, if that's how you react to people saying they won't date you..."

"You're the one who brought it up," Ned said, twitching some more. "I don't want to date you."

"Good," she said, shuddering a little. "Okay, the clerk's never giving me my food, which is good because now I feel like I need to get clean."

"You started it," Ned said very maturely. "Talking about dating me and witness relocation and standing near me!"

"You threw a muffin at me!"

"It flew out of my hand!"

Jaye picked up the muffin, tossing it back at him. "Like that?"

The muffin hit him, bouncing off his chest and falling to the floor. "Did you seriously just throw a muffin at me?"

"It slipped."

Ned knelt down, picked up the muffin and tossed it at Jaye.

This time, Jaye caught it. "That's it. It's mine now!" she said, holding it up as she made her way towards the door. Not that she would be eating the muffin, but it was the principle of the thing.

"Insane!" Ned called after before turning back to the muffins and trying to pick a new one.
