Okay so Jaye was only half sure she was doing this right, and therefore only half really cared. It wasn't like radio was a hard job or anything, right? All she had to do was set up a little table area and take people's votes, right?

So that's what she was doing today, sitting at a table for radio votes with a very big sign saying

RADIO VOTING
!!!VOTE FOR ME!!!

The important message got across, right?

"Why should I?" Ino asked impudently of the girl she didn't recognize. "Vote for you, I mean."

God, it was like everyone didn't automatically know who she was or something. The nerve of the collective population. "Uh, because I did it for two years and am running the thing now," she said in her best duh voice.

[intraspective]

"And I've got no idea who you are and you could totally be lying," Ino pointed out, still impudent.

[fates_jaye]

"I'm Jaye," she said, still thinking this should be obvious. Maybe she'd spent too long in LA. "She the giver of radio nicknames? The purse-talker?"

[intraspective]

...

"...purse-talker?" Ino asked dubiously.

[fates_jaye]

You heard me."

[intraspective]

"You talk to purses?" A beat. "And I've never heard of you before? Oh, Fandom's failed me."

[fates_jaye]

"It has, it really, really has," Jaye said, and added, "Poor thing."

Shut up, Jaye.

[intraspective]

She shrugged. "Maybe no one considered you important enough to talk about," she said instead, "I mean, purse-talking is pretty low on the weirdness scale all things considered."

[fates_jaye]

"Yeah, but I'm a classic," she scoffed. Of course she was important enough to talk about. Dammit.

[intraspective]

"And yet... no one mentioned you." Ino pointed out. "And I talk to quite a few people, so it's not a problem of me not socializing."

[fates_jaye]

Jaye sighed. "Look, I've been cut down by people way better at it than you. Vote or don't, but I'm working here."

Of course she was.

[intraspective]

Ino wrinkled her nose cheerfully, totally not put off at all. "Because I see so many other people who need to talk to you right now," Ino said lightly. "Right. But whatever."

Peter saw Jaye and came on over. "But are you going to smile with your eyes while you do the reporting?"

"No. Not at all. Dead eyes the whole time," she assured him.

"Well crap," Peter said. "That's going to influence my vote."

"Don't you dare, I'll totally make up for it in all the challenges," she said.

"But how will you react to a haircut?" Peter asked.

[fates_jaye]

"There'd be tears. Maybe from whoever did it," she decided, feeling a little protective of her hair all of a sudden.

"How about a weave then?" Peter asked.

"Do those ever go well?"

"Not on ANTM," Peter admitted. "Sure it sounds good in theory, but after about a minute it looks like something died."

"Yeah, I don't think the radio viewing audience will really appreciate it anyway," Jaye nodded.

"Good point," Peter said. "What would work for radio? Maybe you could try different accents."

[fates_jaye]

"Or I'll just bring a bottle of booze in the station with me," she said. "It'll sort of be like an accent."

"Will you try to sound like a pirate?" Peter asked.

[fates_jaye]

"Maybe not on purpose..."

"That's disappointing."

[fates_jaye]

"I'd think it would be more fun," Jaye argued. "One page of notes I'm a pirate, the next I'm Swedish. You don'tknow."

"I'm totally voting for you if you promise to do that," Peter said.

"Then I promise!" Yeah, like she was leaving radio if she could help it. Why she was playing fair, she had no idea.

"Okay, you've convinced me," Peter said as he filled out a ballot. "Am I allowed to put your name in all the blanks?"

"Yes," she said immediately. She had no idea. It probably wasn't ethical, but screw that.

"That'll save time reading anyone else's platform," Peter said.

"There were supposed to be platforms?"

"I dunno," Peter said, as he deposited his ballot. "I didn't read them."

Jaye grinned. "It's good to see you again, Steve Peter."
