Park Renovation [6/4, All Day]

Today there were bricks. Bricks and bricks and bricks. There was also a Xander standing next to them, and a dirt-trail already laid out for paving.

"No power tools or heavy machinery, what'm I gonna safety-lecture about?" he asked, scratching his head. Then he snorted. "Oh wait, this is Fandom, and I've met you people. Don't throw them, don't eat them, don't trade them to anybody for magic beans..."

There was more. It went on for a while. At one point he paused to feed a Twinkie to the small blue deer that nudged gently at his knee. That kind of while.

You can't pave a park with magic beans, see what he's saying? Well, you could, but the bricks are easier to work with.

He's here. In flannel. One of those sentences was superfluous.

For admiring the workers from a safe distance. For various definitions of "safe" considering we're talking bricklaying here. And, you know, Fandom.

Yesterday's lack of post totally my fault, OMG.

What? It's too damn rainy to see any RL construction workers out my window today. Plus they're on strike. In the rain.

Okay, so Bridge already has work for the summer. But Xander's helping out with the project, and that means it's pretty likely that Bridge would be spending time here anyway, ~~ogling~~ visiting the boyfriend at work and such. So here he is.

Xander didn't have to worry about Meg eating any of the bricks. She had never done paving before but she figured it couldn't possibly be that hard.

Okay, Meg was working a little bit slower in the afternoon. It was hot and the whole paving thing was getting boring. But she was still more cheerful than the average person. Just because she was Meg.

Xander wandered over with a trowel in hand. "I don't really think you'd eat them," he said. "...Most of you. But it's Fandom. They could turn into candy when I turn my back."

Oh hey, here was Anders, who'd had way too much fun working on the water features the other day. And bricks! There were bricks today!

Which he was happily laying out, working his way toward possibly having to take his shirt off later. Maybe. Possibly. Y'know.

Xander grins. "So did you know bricklaying, not as uncomfortable as it sounds at all? The things you learn in construction management school."

Afternoon and lots of bricklaying, and . . . yeah, there went the shirt. ~~Only there is no tattoo.~~

"If they did turn into candy then there would be a chance of me eating them," Meg admitted. "Just a little! I'd be curious about what flavor they'd be."

...Well, I should show my support.

I would show my support but I appear to be having some problems in that area.

"That's good to know, considering I was coming here to ask if maybe you could use an extra pair of hands with the whole laying of bricks thing. I mean, I know I've already got a job, but you know, since you're here I'll probably be by sometimes for lunch and... things... and I figured why not help out, since I actually can this year because of how I'm all graduated and this is a graduate project, since I'm already here?"
