Chad had gotten back from New York just in time to open the shop on time, which meant that he had no kitten with him at the moment, or even his guitar, or even any idea of what he missed over the weekend.

That last part was probably a good things.

Today's mix: Kid's Stuff

...And, no, he's not posing at you. Really.

And there was a phone call about halfway into his shift.

No one in particular.

And, actually, the ringing of his phone in his pocket surprised him a little, but, halfway through reaching for it, Chad then suddenly remembered that Teddy was going to call. Good thing he happened to have left his phone on, although, at the moment he answered, he was wondering if there was anything that someone could do to help with that habitual short-term memory loss that he had going on.

"...Hey, you."

Teddy grinned, glad Chad remembered. "Hey right back."

...Kind of.

"What's up? You still got a bunch of monks hanging around or whatever?"

Teddy chuckled. "I think they're trying to convert the attackers to pacifism."

"I knew I liked those monks," Chad said with a small grin, again entertaining the idea that he could totally hang out with them. "If I ever make it over there, I want to meet them."

"I'll make sure to ask Phyla to bring us here," Teddy promised. "How'd it go?"

"Really good," Chad said, nodding a bit with a grunt. "At least....I think. I'll have to wait for the ad to run to see if any of my shots were used, but, hey, I still got paid."

"They shot an ad?" Teddy asked excitedly. "What for?"

"Ummm..."

That long pause? Was Chad trying to remember.

"Uh, a soda, or something, I think."

Which was...close enough.

"A soda ad? That's a big deal, right?"

"Well, it's like...new and stuff," Chad explained. "And not..."

Pause.

"Energy drink," he grunted. "That was it. And, you know, there's about fifty million fad energy drinks that show up once and then disappear, so who knows."

Teddy shrugged. Not that Chad could see it, but...

"That's still good. Get your face out there."

"If they run any of my shots, yeah," Chad nodded. Not that Teddy could hear it.

"Was still fun, though. If it went as good as it felt, they might even hire me on, but...that might be wishful thinking."

"Did the photographer seem to like you, at least?"

"Yup; said I followed direction well and that I had good angles. Set director didn't, though, I don't think. He wouldn't let me play with his dog."

Despite the fact that this was all said in Chad's usual drone, anyone who knew him would have been able to hear the sad devastation in that last statement.

It took a moment for Teddy to realize this was Chad and there was no euphemism there.

"Maybe try being extra nice next time you see him?"

"Maybe," Chad said, although he didn't sound very hopeful. "It's a cute dog; he named it Judy Garland. Reminded me a little of Prince Oscar Pedro."

"..." Teddy wasn't facepalming. Really. "Maybe when you get signed, you can bring him to play with the dog."

"You think so? Prince Oscar Pedro would like that, but I'd worry about him being too much of a disruption on the set, you know?"

"When you're all famous, they'll have to, right?"

"I'll have to get famous first, Teddy," Chad commented with a grin.

"You will." Teddy was pretty certain of that one. "How many models out there look like you, after all?"

"I'm sure there's got to be at least a couple," Chad pointed out lightly. "But I doubt many of them are trilingual..."

"Which means you'll be able to work in way more places than them!"

You don't even have to watch out for that beautiful cat of Chad's today.

mmm, world ending = baaaad.
