Turtle & Canary; Saturday [ 06/05 ]

Although Turtle was a little bummed that her dedication to the store left her unavailable to network with the new kids, it did give her a chance to have a nice little sale that might bring them in here. Besides, she'll have plenty of time for networking later. She settled in behind the counter, took out some paper work to work on, and hoped for a good turn-out.

As if Marco could help himself and not bother Turtle. "Morning!"

Well, at least he didn't shout in her ear, but Turtle was hoping that the person who walked through that door would be a nice gullible new kid with a lot of money.

"Morning, Marco," she greeted him back. "I see you've shed some clothes."

"I didn't want to freeze to death!" Marco informed her.

"Oh, it wasn't that cold," Turtle grinned, rolling her eyes. "It gets cold like that every winter where I'm from. We once got so much snow that we were snowed in our apartment building for weeks."

"Remind me to never visit where you're from." Marco said with a full body shiver. "I'm a California boy, first time I saw the snow? Was when we took a wrong turn and wound up in the Arctic."

"Awww," Turtle chuckled a little, "but we've got such good cheese! You should pick up a nice warm parka and some gloves while you're here, Marco. That'll help with your California cold weakness."

Marco twitched. "Did I mention the part with the homicidal aliens?"

"No, but I don't think there are any of those here currently," Turtle said, with a slight frown. "At least, I hope not..."

Marco paused for a second. "Don't jinx us."

"You brought it up first!" Turtle pointedly reminded him.

"I didn't mean here!"

"You don't necessarily have to. Come on, Marco, you've been going here long enough to know that."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, no evil aliens, check."

"That we know of," Turtle said. "It doesn't do any good to completely discount it and be unprepared, you know. I haven't had a chance to see any of the new kids yet, after all. One of them? Could totally be an evil alien."

Marco rolled his eyes. "Oh, now you're just asking for it. I'm reserving the right to say I told you so when aliens take over."

"Oh, ye of little faith," Turtle said, waving a dismissive hand at him. "Aliens already have tried to take over, and did they do it? No. Know why? Because this place can handle everything that gets thrown at it. Stop being so paranoid."

"I meant the kind of aliens that tried to take over my world." Marco said vaguely. "And it's not paranoia if they're really out to get you."

"But I thought you already defeated them..."

Something flashed across Marco's face. "Some escaped."

Turtle frowned at that. "And, what, you think those escaped ones might come back...?"

Marco shrugged. "I think they got the point that Earth has teeth."

"And they'll learn it again if they attack here. Seriously. Stop worrying. You almost sound like Jeff."

Marco gave a full body shudder. "Anything but that!"

"Oh, come on!" Turtle laughed despite herself. "He's not that bad!"

Out for a good chunk of afternoon, so please to not be minding any SP then.
