Groovy Tunes; Monday [ 06/07 ]
If Chad was in a good mood today (which he was), it didn't really show (because he's Chad). But, really, there was only one thing that could have made his day better and that would have been to finally see that the ad he shot was running in a magazine. As he idly waited for the hours of the workday to tick away, he flipped through a few and, sure enough, there it was. And sure enough, there he was, although, in the scope of the ad as a whole, Chad was noticeable mainly because he was Chad, but he was in the background of all of it, barely part of the main ad itself, but he was there and he found it, and this added to the events of weekend made this Monday possibly the best Monday ever.
He was in an ad. Sure, you had to search a little bit to find him, but there he was! It was...so cool.
Prince Oscar Pedro got sick of hearing Chad talking about it in Japanese after a half hour, though.
Today's Mix: Sex Blurred Weekend, and it was actually applicable again. Mmmm. Gooooood weekend.
Knowing that there were new kids around, Chad had also brushed the dust of the Help Wanted sign and put it in the window.
Groovy Tunes is open!

Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Chatty for Chad, anyway.

"Yes, you can, thank you," she answered politely. "I'm looking for some music?"
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
"Any particular kind?" That would at least give him an idea of where to start.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
It was a common problem; in fact, teaching Alice all about modern music was still fresh in his head, and now she couldn't stop herself. Definitely a success story there. Maybe this girl might be the same?
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
She looked down at the CDs in her hands, still a bit confused. "So, how do you play the music with these?" She held out one that she had grabbed because it was labeled "Black Sabbath", and she might as well have some witchy music. "Can you show me?"

She went to curtsy, then remembered her new status and bowed instead, which just ended up dumping her black pointy hat onto the floor.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
"I'm sorry?" he asked.
But he could have sworn he heard her say Agnes Nitt.
But...
...well, he supposed he saw some resemblance there. Actually, now that he looked at her, he could see some of Agnes in her, and maybe his memory was just...
...and that was a while ago..
...different universes...
...Chad's head suddenly was hurting.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Grunting slightly, he shook his head. "N..no, I didn't mean...It's just that I used to know an Agnes Nitt..."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Even if she hadn't been around for very long.

Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
He decided to focus on things that didn't involve him being supposedly handsome and make him feel all awkward.
"So, this is kind of your basic CD player, except that we've got it hooked up to the store's sound system. When you wanna put in a CD, you just open," he pushed the button to send the tray coming out, and moved his mix CD out, to settle the Black Sabbath on in to replace it, and then paused there, to see how Agnes was following. Pretty simple, so he imagined she'd followed it so far.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
"And then you close it again and hit the switch labeled 'Play'?" Agnes guessed. It seemed easy enough to use.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
So then he went and did just that, and, a second or two later, the very start of Black Sabbath (which Chad always thought was really rather redundant, to have a song the same as your band name) started to fill through the speakers of the store, and he took a moment to listen before glancing toward Agnes for any reactions.

Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Warm up to it, or ultimately decide that, no, no, she was right the first time. It was awful. But then that gave Chad a really good idea of where he could potentially steer her next, since they were probably unlikely to have music from her world, which was sad.

Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
He reached for his massive CD case. "I mean, there's lots different," he reiterated as he tried to think of what could be a really good opposite of Black Sabbath. He found one that he had of some classical Japanese shamisen music, the kind made to play with all those nature-y brooks and birds and the sea and stuff.
"Like this," he said, stopping the Sabbath and sliding the shamisen in its place.

He thought Zeppelin at first (always Zeppelin), but went with something a little bouncier, settling on the Rolling Stones and settling that into the player next. If anything, start at the roots of what Chad knew best and work from there.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Agnes found herself grabbing Chad's shirt and looking up at him with big, wide eyes and a giant smile. "This... What IS this???"
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
"...the...Rolling Stones?" he said, a question at the end of it not because he doubted his answer, but because he feared for what might happen if it was an answer that Agnes didn't like.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
It might have gotten a grunt if he wasn't still a little shaken up. "Uh, um, great; you might be a classic rock girl, then. Lemme just try this one..."
Although Chad was a little reluctant for fear of another shirt grabbing incident (it would be extremely hard to explain to Teddy how he ended up with a ripped shirt that wasn't caused by him), Chad flipped a few more pages of his CD case for a distinctly teal coloured CD. He did this mostly out of curiosity, to see what she'd think, but they did have a rock style with a punk leaning, and so he could maybe glean if she liked that direction at all. And so it came to pass that Teal Dear took the place of the Rolling Stones in the CD player and started playing through the store.
Chad got ready to defend himself from....whatever it inspired.
Unless it didn't inspire anything; he wouldn't know what to do then, but he did know that it would suck.

Which made Chad's shoulders sag a little after all that squaring of them.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Agnes looked out across the store. Now that she new what the CDs were, she felt like she could almost feel the music inside them, subliminal vibrations just out of the reach of her senses. "They're almost alive," she told Chad. "It's a whole new kind of magic..."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
Her last comments did a very good job (and Chad was grateful for it) of keeping Chad from slipping into a bit of sadness over the fact that they couldn't release more, because he was the only one left. Instead, it got a faint smile on his face. "I think," he said, "that any music worth listening to is alive; I never really thought of it much like magic, but, yeah, I suppose you could."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
"If you don't think it's magic," she challenged, "then how does the CD player thing actually work? There isn't an imp inside?"
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
"And it actually runs on electricity. Which...uh..." He scratched his head a little. "Is hard to explain. But really common around here."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
She looked around. "Electricity's what runs the lights, right? It's fascinating, what people can come up with."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 06/07
"You mention magic a lot," he then observed. "Do you do any of it?"
