Caritas - Monday evening [Open]

Jolee had no clue what was going on tonight. Tino had brought the Zombie Band something called "Rock Band." Instead of playing their own instruments, they were playing plastic instruments to get points on a big screen at the back of the stage.

But as long as it kept Tino and the zombies entertained, Jolee would be able to deal.

[OOC: Not feeling great tonight, but the help wanted sign is still up. Please mod Tino - who's in a good mood tonight - unless it's about a job.]

A few drinks in already, Lucas watched the zombies in bemusement.

Lana came in and slipped onto a stool next to him. "Hey there."

Lucas sort of half smiled at Lana. "Hey." Class had made him kind of thinky. "I think I owe you an apology." He waved to Tino to bring her whatever she'd like on his tab.

"An apology?" she said, after asking Tino for a mojito. "Why?"

Lucas took a long drink before answering. "Well, as you know, I've been kinda messed up since I got here. I'm in this relationship class now, and I feel like maybe I should tell you why I'm so messed up."

"Assuming you want to know."

Lana turned and gave him her full attention. "I absolutely want to know," she said quietly. "I'll listen to anything you want to tell me."

"Okay!" Lucas let out a breath and nodded, trying to decide where to begin. "So, last fall, I was really into this girl, Peyton, but she was sort of dating my brother and said she wasn't into me. But Brooke was, so we sort of fell into going out." This was Lucas' version, at least.

Lana nodded. "Okay."

"Right," Lucas needed a little extra drink for this part. "So then Peyton's dad almost died and Peyton and I sort of hooked up. Before I could break it off with Brooke, I ended up in a coma and the she sort of found out." In that she saw them together. On Peyton's webcam. But he wasn't going to mention that part right now.

Lana hissed softly. "Ow. I'm guessing Brooke didn't take it very well."

"Um, no. And please don't mention any of this to the Brooke here. She's not my Brooke, so I don't know that everything happened the same for her, besides not wanting to hurt her any more," Lucas said. "But she didn't take it well and Peyton and I never ended up getting together afterwords."

"Oh, God, Lucas, I'm sorry," Lana said quietly. "You ended up losing both of the people you cared about. And no, I would never say anything about it to Brooke."

"Thanks," Lucas said, finishing his drink and getting a fresh one. "So then I came here and I'm really afraid to really get close to anyone."

He drained his new glass. He was going to be really drunk soon. "And it really doesn't help that people are spreading rumors that I'm gay."

"I don't blame you," Lana said. "You've got to be wondering how you're going to mess it up the next time. I understand that."

She'd managed a drink or two while she listened.

"And I feel pretty confident in saying you're not gay. I mean, besides the obvious, when I was a guy you didn't have any interest.

She thought for a moment. "I don't mind if you want to let people know we sleep together sometimes. It's not like I've tried to keep it a huge secret or anything. And if you want to act sort of more, I don't know PDA-y in public, well... I did promise Anders I'd have as much fun as possible before I left."

And PDA-y was totally a word. Or close enough, right?

Lucas laughed a little, "I don't think I need to prove myself, not that I couldn't, but it's just weird that my professor thought for a whole semester that I was dating Sam Winchester."

"I had no idea Sam was gay."

"Sam Winchester?" Lana said, looking suprised. "He's not gay. He's got a really serious girlfriend."

"Seriously?" Lucas raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah," Lana said. "Seriously. I've known him for a while. Not really well, but he and his brother saved my life once and then he and I were trapped in the past together. I mean, I can't swear he'd never have a thing for a guy, but at the moment he and Dawn are pretty involved. They live together and everything."

"Wow," Lucas kept drinking. "I'm going to be so sick tomorrow."

"Yeah," she said, looking a little concerned. "Maybe you want to think about slowing down a little. Or at least continuing it back at the dorm while I can still help you get there."

"That's...an idea." Lucas decided after some long contemplation of his empty glass. "Did I tell you 'bout how I slept with some random chick at a bar after all this rejection? Yeah. That went really well, too."

"Come on, let's head back," she said. "And no, you didn't tell me about her, but sometimes when we're hurting we do stupid things. I can definitely attest to that. And tonight you've got a non-random chick to spend the night with even if it's just sleeping. Okay?"

"You're right." He nodded his assent even as he tossed his payment to Tino.

"I totally don't deserve a friend like you."

"Hey, you've been wonderful to me," she said softly. "It's the least I can do. And believe me, you deserve lots of good things, Lucas Scott."

Where there is a rock underneath one of the tables.

Where there is a guy who has never played Rock Band.
