Turtle & Canary, Tuesday 7/8
G'Kar set himself up behind the counter, several books piled around him. He was busily transcribing a few basic passages from Narn into English. If Hoshi could really manage a translation in a week's time... Let's just say he was looking forward to delving into the Book of G'Quan with her.
Of course, it could not be translated, but perhaps together they could make a copy. It made him grin just thinking about it.

Talk to G'Kar
Re: Talk to G'Kar
To say she was a bit surprised at the gentleman behind the counter would be an understatement, but as he wasn't making any moves to harm her, she assumed he was another oddity of the place and moved forward.
She observed it, would consider it carefully of course, but she was a woman who got to the bottom line and the bottom line was that if it wasn't acting troublesome, then it wasn't trouble. If she taught nothing else in her class, it should be that.
"Sir?" she ventured as she stepped to the counter. "Might I trouble you for some assistance?"
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"But of course," he smiled, immediately looking up. "How can I help?"
Re: Talk to G'Kar
She'd practiced using the word on her way here to make sure she didn't sound awkward.
"I was told, with our current location across the causeway being rather desolate, that this might be the place to buy such a thing on the island?"
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"Oh yes," he agreed. "I doubt that the natives would be very helpful with one's shopping needs. However," he continued speaking as he moved around behind the counter, looking for the laptop he'd spotted earlier, "there is a portal that still connects us to a rather large city. Any manner of things can be found there."
"But!" He triumphantly pulled out the computer and turned back around to face her, "We do so appreciate your business here. And we can vouch for excellent service. Would you like a demonstration?"
Re: Talk to G'Kar
She considered the portal for a moment before shaking her head.
"I would rather not travel beyond the island for the time being. I come from what seems to be an alternative time from the one which exists beyond that causeway and I'd rather learn more about this time and place before trying something like that."
She tipped her chin to the machine.
"If you would, please?"
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"Of course!" he smiled brightly, turning the computer on and bringing up the basic office programs. "As you can see, it has several applications already installed. I'm sure you'll find it most useful. We can even offer you a limited warranty." And hopefully

Abby Irene held out a hand.
"Abigail Irene Garrett, called Abigail Irene informally. A pleasure to meet you."
She tipped her head to the computer.
"As for that, I'd rather skip the warranty, if you don't mind. Thank you, however."
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"Of course," he replied as he began shutting the computer down and packaging it back up. "But if you require any assistance, do feel free to come by. I'd be glad to help."
He considered her for a moment. "If I may make an assumption, you are most likely to be one of our new teachers. What subject do you teach?"
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"Good guess."

hanwavilytold her the cost. "One learns something new each day. Even teachers," he grinned. "Of course, we never truly stop learning. It's what drives us on."Re: Talk to G'Kar
"Thank you for your assistance, G'Kar. Are you the owner of this establishment?"
Re: Talk to G'Kar
which Turtle would likely kill him for sayingas the interaction that comes with it. It is quite the phenomenon; seems that no matter where one goes, or which universe one is from, people have a tendency to converse with shopkeeps. Proves that somethings are universal after all.""Much like Swedish meatballs," he grinned.
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"Oh the terrible meatballs we were given at one of my primary schools..."
She shook her head before laughing.
"Well, then might I compliment you on your shopkeeping. I shall surely be back."
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"Thank you, very much," he replied, bowing slightly. "It is most appreciated. And I do so look forward to seeing you again, Abbey."
Re: Talk to G'Kar
"And I certainly look forward to meeting you again, G'kar."
She waved as she walked out the door.

G'Kar opened the bottle, tried a sip and leaned back in his seat. "Hm. Smooth with a small bit of kick to it. Rather high on the sugar, though." He nodded appreciatively, "I think it will do well here. Students are often eager for sugar-laden beverages. How soon can you deliver us..." he waved a hand through the air, "twenty cases. Just to start out for a trial run."

It's work done, the extremely happy bear trotted out of the store.
