Groovy Tunes; Friday [ 07/18 ]

Once upon a time, there was a Kaylee Frye who worked at Groovy Tunes. Chad remembered her. But this was different, because this was not only a different Kaylee Frye, but it was also Chad, but there was still a full-circle sort of feeling to it.

And that totally made sense, really. It did in Chad's head, anyway, which was currently in the skull of a much smaller and arguably cuter person.

It was interesting, coming in to open the store after the mind-swap. He actually had to carry Prince Oscar Pedro (who didn't care who was carrying him, as long as they pet him, it seemed) and once he got there and tried to do some things, he found himself remarking, in his temporary adorable girly voice, "....I can't reach!"

Chad settled behind the counter, listening to music, because he wanted to know if music sounded different when you were in a different body, but he didn't plan on staying the whole way through til midnight. He figured being in a different body was good reason to skip work for that party.

Gawk at how all those grunts sound really weird coming from that body.

Here for the usual visit, Teddy paused and looked around for Chad.

Did he hire someone for Fridays and forget to tell him?

He waved faintly at Kaylee and turned to leave to hunt him down for dinner.

Chad had just started lifting his hand to wave back at Teddy when he turned around and started to leave.

Why would he...?

OH. Kaylee body! Right. Despite the fact that everything looked different from this height, Chad had actually completely forgotten at that moment. He blamed the Pink Floyd he was listening to. He removed his headphone, moved to hop over the counter, realize he wasn't sure he could hop over it as Kaylee, and so then he just called out.

"Hey, Teddy! Wait!"

Stopping, Teddy turned to give her a small half smile. "Sorry, I was looking for someone else. I didn't mean to bother you."

Chad shook his head. "No, Ted, it's me," he assured him.

There was a pause that, at the very least, was probably rather characteristic of Chad, even if he looked nothing the same while doing it.

"If you were looking for me, anyway."

He didn't imagine who else he would have been visiting here on Friday. Prince Oscar Pedro? But he wouldn't just visit him.

Teddy blinked a few times.

And then a few more.

"Um, did you start thinking about girls and get stuck again?"

"Start think--?"

Confused for a moment, Chad's face suddenly went red as he realized what Teddy meant. And blushing was much, much more apparent on this face.

"Uh, no. Nothing like that. I just...that mind-swap thing, that Adah and Igor were doing. I switched with Kaylee..."

And Chad was thinking it was a good thing that Teddy ran into him before he ran into Kaylee...

"So... she's running around in your body?" That was... freaky. "Um, is this a long time thing?"

Grunting slightly (and with an odd cuteness), Chad shook his head. "Just until tomorrow."

"Good." Teddy just stared some more. "This is--" Freaky. "--freaky."

Chad scratched the back of his...of Kaylee's head a little. "Yeah," he agreed. "I wasn't sure if I was gonna do it, but...I feel fine. Sometimes I even forget, until I try to reach something or I stand up or something."

Teddy nodded, grinning again for a moment. "I think I'm taller than you for a change."

Chad considered this point. He eyed Teddy critically, and then grunted. Adorably.

"Enjoy it while you can."

Oh he was going to.

"Only for a day, right?"

Chad nodded Kaylee's head. "Yup. Back to myself tomorrow night."

"Good." Teddy nodded and exhaled a sigh. "Because I don't think I could get used to you as a girl."

Chad thought about this for a moment, head tilting. Honestly, he didn't think he could get used to it, either, but it wasn't so bad as just a temporary thing. He would definitely miss being stronger and taller, and it sounded weird when he grunted.

"At least I'm a cute girl?" he offered. "If it's too weird for you, I'd understand if you don't wanna stick around too long."

Moving to get closer, Teddy paused before touching him. Her. Whatever,

"It's just... I dunno. It'd feel like I was cheating on you or something if I kissed you like this."

"Why? Are you thinking of kissing me?"

In Chad's head, it sounded a little confused and a bit mocking, and also worried because he felt it would be rude to kiss people with someone else's body. Out of Kaylee's mouth, though, it sounded rather innocent and perhaps a bit precocious, blinking eyes turning into nearly fluttering ones.

"If you stayed that way," Teddy said, rolling his eyes. "You're still my boyfriend."

"If I stayed this way," Chad pointed out, "I'd be your girlfriend."

Which deserved a snort of a laugh, which somehow dissolved into a giggle.

As long as Chad wasn't too interested in sex...

"That is creepy," Teddy said, laughing himself.

Chad shook his head. "You're the one thinking about all this stuff in the first place," he pointed out, because, yeah, sex was the furthest thing from his mind right now. It was just...

...creepy. That covered it perfectly.

"Next time, no turning into other people," Teddy said, wagging a finger at him. "Only if it's just like... you know. Before."

"I wasn't really going to do this," Chad, his shoulders....well, Kaylee's shoulders...sagging admitted in face of the chastisement. "I went along with it to prove a point to Ino that it's safe."

Now Teddy was just confused. "It's Fandom."

Chad shrugged; the feeling was incredibly light that he wasn't even sure he really was doing it, so his shoulders were lifted exceptionally high to compensate, almost pressing to Kaylee's ears. "I know. But she got all pissy about it being dangerous."

"It was voluntary, right?"

Chad nodded, grunting softly. Because softly was the only way he could grunt right now. "Yup."

"Huh." A beat. "You going to the party tonight then?"

Chad nodded, with a soft, affirming grunt. "Closing up early to go," he admitted, and then paused, forehead creasing with concern.

"You think that's okay?"

"Just be careful." Teddy shifted his feet nervously. "You're a very pretty girl and... yeah. I'll go with you."

Chad stared at Teddy for a moment.

"...What's that supposed to mean?" he asked, frowning again, and it was an honest question. He'd never been called a pretty girl before, okay? Not even when he was a girl.

"You're cute and it's a party and guys might hit on you," Teddy mumbled.

Chad's head...well, Kaylee's head...tilted.

"They'd be wasting their time," he pointed out, still confused as to what that had to do with anything. It wasn't like he'd go with their advances, even if he was himself.

"I know." More mumbling. "But you're all... pretty. And I'm the jealous type, okay?"

"Aww, Teddy." Chad couldn't help smiling fondly at him after that. "You know you've got nothing to worry about there. You know you're the only one I want."

"I'm still all jealous and I know," Teddy said, leaning over to kiss him. An automatic kind of thing.

He turned quickly for one on the cheek.

"Soon as you're back to normal, I'm keeping you in my room."

...what whole kiss on the cheek thing was...awkward. Chad cleared Kaylee's throat, shifting a little.

"Uh, just as long as I'm not late for class or anything Monday."

"I'll write you a note," Teddy promised.

"...Do you think that'd work?"

"Who do you have Monday?"

Chad hesitated.

"...Senor Deadpool."

"...we'll make sure you get there on time."

Yeah, that was what Chad thought.

He grunted.

Cutely.

Especially if it's in those high-up places Chad would otherwise be able to help with.

OMG SOMEONE SLAP ME, because I love this way too freakin' much. XD

And might I also add that it's awesome swapping with a character that you already have a folder full of icons for. XD
