Luke's Diner, July 21 (Monday)

Lacey had been expecting to walk into work this morning and see a diner, with booths and counter stools and tables and chairs. But then, she had also been expecting to walk into the diner in her normal clothes, and not something involving high boots, leather pants, a tricorner hat, and waaaaaaaaay too much cleavage. (Where did that come from? No, really, had that been there all along?)

This? Didn't exactly fit Lacey's mental picture of a diner. Oh, the booths and counter were still there, but there were rugs and cushions and blankets everywhere in place of the tables and chairs, and a rather motley assortment of them at that.

"I never signed up my restaurant for Extreme Makeover, Swashbuckling Edition!" She looked down at her clothes again and sighed. At least she was on an island, so it made a little more sense. If this had happened to her back in Saskatchewan -- what would she have done? Knock farmers cold and sail off with their hay? In a dinghy? (Dog River's river wasn't that big.)

Today's Specials
Curry Chicken Skewers
Macaroni Pie
Spinach, Mozzarella and Roasted Red Pepper Panini

Luke's is open. Don't mind the bewildered-looking quasipirate behind the counter, holding her hat in front of her chest. She just keeps hoping that the next time she blinks, the decor will go back to normal.

Dale strode into the diner wearing the equivalent to what someone in the Royal Navy would wear as a uniform. Apparently even in the weird way Fandom was, Dale still had to wear a formal outfit.

"Hello!" Dale said cheerfully, "I have to say the specials look delicious today, but for some reason I keep expecting a leg of mutton and rum to be on the menu."

"How about just plain coffee, then?" Dale said taking a seat at the counter and taking the tri-corner hat with the fluffy feather in it off his head and placing it next to him. "Along with... Macaroni pie? I don't even know what it is but I must have some."

"Looks like I wasn't lucky as some. While others are dressed like pirates, I get a formal uniform. Might be because of my affiliation of the police department," Dale said raising his mug of coffee in gratitude. "How are you enjoying our little change in wardrobe and scenery?"

Not much in the mood for the sandwiches he'd prepared himself for lunch, Roy decided food from the diner might just suit him better right now. His uniform (http://www.nmm.ac.uk/collections/nelson/viewObject.cfm?ID=UNI0011&picture=2#content) was similar to Dale's, but then it wasn't all too different from what he usually wore either.

He paused as he entered the diner, glancing around before he closed the door. "I didn't realise interiors changed too."

Roy found himself glancing around the room to see if he could spot any. "I don't think pirates had hidden cameras, but there might be a squirrel hiding somewhere."

Roy watched her with some amusement - and possibly admiration for the piratey outfit. "Is that a threat or do the squirrels actually like stew?"

"Yo ho, Lacey!" Murdock was very happy today. For one, he wasn't feeling like utter crap as he had handwavily all weekend and two - he had pirate stuff! The usual ballcap had been replaced with a buckneer hat, complete with pompus feather.

He was a bit lamenting over the apparent loss of his jacket, but in the meantime, he had a leather vest, a white tunic and brown leather pants. And the sneakers were gone in favor of black leather boots.

"New decor," he remarked, glancing around the diner. "And I see the wee pirate elves were in your wardrobe too," he grinned.

Murdock could get into it very well. After all, what's a pirate after you've been an old west gunslinger and a super-sekrit superhero?

"So noted. It's...interesting. I kinda like it." Of course he would. "Captain Murdock approves," he waggled his eyebrows at her.

He grinned, "I figured. But still, it's kinda cool. And hey! You got a hat too! Mine's got a feather. I'll betcha I can find a feather for yours if you want one."

Bridge, *also* clad in a naval uniform, wanders in to the diner and takes a seat at the counter.

"Hey, Ms. Lacey, ma'am," he greets, taking off his hat and placing it on the countertop next to him.

"Huh?" Bridge frowns. "I just wanted a milkshake..."

"Why's that?" Bridge says, oblivious to the existence of any other "Royal Navy" officers. "And chocolate. Um, please?"
