The Beach, Saturday Morning

Mohinder had been exploring ever since he got up, and that was a really long time ago. He'd gotten all the way to the beach from - well that probably didn't matter, because he wasn't lost at all. There had been a kangeroo, though it had startled away when he'd tried to take a picture and now there was sand and water all the way over there.

Mohinder carefully set down his backpack, and struggled out of his shoes before he headed to the water's edge. He stood as close as he could, staring at the water, and jumped backwards, giggling and wet-footed, as a wave caught him.

"I did," she said proudly. "It was in the programs on TV. But I never saw it."

"What's Tee Vee?" the Goddess asked curiously.

"It plays programs," Juli explained. "And is like a computer in some ways, but Father says computers are better 'cause they can do more."

The Goddess just shook her head. "I don't have any idea what you're talking about."

Proudfoot grumbled her displeasure as well.

"I can show you," Juli offered generously. "There's one back at the apartment."

She paused.

"But only if I know your name. Father says strangers are a bad thing."

"Okay," the Goddess said happily, then frowned. "Except I don't have a name. They just call me The Goddess. Well, sometimes Mother Proudfoot calls me Goddess Dear. Is that good enough? Oh, and this is Proudfoot."

"Is Proudfoot a real cat?" Juli asked interestedly. "And I think that's good enough, because that's what you answer to, right? I'm Juli!"

"Proudfoot is an Asheth Temple Cat," the Goddess said proudly. "That means she's a super real cat. And Juli is a very pretty name."

[identity profile] last-mizrahi.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wow," Juli said, eyes wide. "Real cats are very very rare back home. And thank you."

[identity profile] livingasheth.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Welcome," the Goddess said cheerfully. "And there are lots and lots of cats at the temple. I'd take you to go see, but I don't know where it is."

[identity profile] last-mizrahi.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"You don't know where it is?"

[identity profile] livingasheth.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The Goddess shook her head. "I woke up somewhere else today and I don't see it anywhere."

That got a shrug from Juli. "My parents travel a lot," she said, "and I don't mind waking up in rooms I don't recognize. They didn't leave a note this time though, which is strange. Maybe your temple needed fixing or something and they moved you for a bit?"

[identity profile] livingasheth.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
The Goddess shrugged too. "Maybe. None of the priestesses are here either. I hope they won't get mad at me."
