The Wooded Unexplored Areas; Late Saturday Afternoon.
It had been an odd weekend for Cal, which he blamed mostly on his mun having a life suddenly wtf the fights he'd gotten into with Ino and with Amber, which, by now, he should be used to, really, but they felt different this time. Much different, and it had him in a funk that he only now seemed to be able to break, in the form of being alone and being outdoors and being in the area of the island that would be not new to him, but new to everyone. He liked being alone like this, walking through new territories where he could just not think about anything but what was around him.
Eventually, he found a nice spot beneath a tree, just enough shade and light to sit and read a little. It started to get closer to the eventual sunset, and he lifted his eyes from the page to the sky and considered heading back.
He decided against it, and went back to reading. He thought that he might like a situation where he could spend all of his time like this, but then realized it was stupid. It would get boring after a while. For now, though, this was just the spot he'd want to be.
[[ open, naturally, for other intrepid explorers; holy crap time to be on *clings* ]]

Of course she was taking her time to get used to the new areas of the island.

"Fanbutt."
He turned the page, distinctly drawing his eyes to the first line of the page.

"Yeah," he deadpanned, turning his eyes back to her. "Hiding. Clearly. You must be a champ at hide'n'go seek, Fanbutt."

No one ever said her analogies had to be good. So much time being taught to fight didn't really nurture the language usage.

"So, what are you doing out here?" he asked instead.

"There isn't a thing to show how the two parts were separate before this. It's perfectly together."
...this wasn't something that made her comfortable.

"What do you expect?" he asked. "The place inexplicably moved around the entire globe; it doesn't exactly seem to be a slave to physics."

"Fanbutt?" he asked. "You're worried about the lack of a change in vegetation after being relocated relatively just a wee tiny bit northeast of where we originally were, but then you didn't have anything to say when our vegetation stayed the same in...oh, I don't know, Madagascar or freaking Antarctica? Oh, yeah. That's fine, but this. Whoa man. Holy crap. Freaky deaky trip shit here."

"Fanbutt," he said, diligently patient, "you summon talking weasels. But ceaselessly merging treelines freak you out?"
Girls. Couldn't make sense of them. Even when you used to be one.

Really.

See. It all worked.

"If only," he mused, "things could be as simple as random demons where I came from."
