Caritas - Sunday evening [Open]

Tino was complaining. His arguments about tomorrow being Labor Day and how he shouldn't have to work and how the zombies were his friends and he knows where you live, old man, had no effect on Jolee. Jolee countered this argument with a wave of his hand and the suggestion that Tino would work on the federal holiday. Jolee wasn't going to be mean about it and trick him into liking it, though. That would be a little far for Jolee to do without at least feeling conflicted

The HELP WANTED sign was still up.

[OOC: Narratively, that seems an awkward place to ask for new employees, I know. I promise that Jolee probably won't try to mindtrick you. I'm around, if occasionally slow.]

After the events of the past couple of days, Cable felt a drink was more than justified. He sat down at the bar, gave Jolee a nod, and said, "A beer, please."

"Of course, Mister Mayor," Jolee said, getting Cable's beer. "You don't get a discount, though."

"Probably better for the economy," Cable replied. News travelled fast-- then again, it was a small town. "I'll deal."

"Good," Jolee said, putting the beer down in front of Cable. "How'd you end up with the job anyway?"

"Serendipity, apparently." He took the beer gratefully, taking a swig. "I'm trying to offer help where it's needed." Which implied everything that needed to be sid, really.

"Serendipity," Jolee repeated. "The Force works in strange ways. You've always somewhat reminded me of a man I've worked with in the past. Last I heard, he was running a town, too. Granted, it's a hidden town of warriors looking to reclaim their lost glory on a distant moon, so it doesn't quite match up. But I still find it interesting."

"This isn't my first island," Cable said, wryly, and he put the bottle back on the bar. "How did that work out for him?"

With how much she was feeling like she needed one, Charlotte probably will have several drinks. Getting things organized for the new exhibit could only distract her so much, after all.

"I don't want to have to look at an empty Cosmo glass for any more two seconds tonight, oh my God."

"Tino, start the assembly line for Miss York here," Jolee told his bartender.

"Having some troubles, I take it?" he asked Charlotte.

Charlotte heaved a big sigh and answered with a "No" that didn't look or sound anywhere near the vicinity of truth, giving her head a slight shake.

"Well," she added, reluctantly, a little more truthfully.

"...I'm trying to just not think about it," she then admitted, sighing again.

"I understand," Jolee said. "You don't know how many times I've gone to a cantina just to get my mind off something for a while. Truth be told, I don't know how many times, either. But my memory's going and I was never very good with numbers to begin with."

"And there's only so many times," Charlotte said, sucking in yet another breath with wide eyes that suggested there was something seriously wrong with this fact she was about to divulge, "you can go over and polish up an agenda. Believe me, though, the number is high, and I've not only reached it but I went past it about fifty revisions ago."

"An agenda for what?" Jolee asked as the Cosmos started coming down from the end of the bar. At the moment, he was less interested in letting Charlotte forget what she wanted to forget and more interested in finding out what she was talking about.

"The next exhibit," Charlotte said, sighing yet again, breeching the topic with the absolute opposite reaction she would normally have. She cradled her drink in her hand and quickly swallowed down as much of the pink concoction as her throat would allow. "Projecting how many entries we have, advertising, what sort of hors-de-vours to serve at the opening, that sort of thing."

It was only his second day and Indy was in desperate need of a drink. Finding the local watering hole wasn't a problem. After catching sight of a bunch of zombies playing instruments Indy decided a double was in order.

"Whisky," he requested as he sat at the bar. "A good bit of it if you don't mind."

"Of course," Jolee said, motioning for Tino to pour the drink. "Are you knew around here?"

"Yeah," Indy replied. "As of yesterday. Do I want to know about the band or are they just suffering from a bad case of leprosy?"

"They've been dead since before I owned this place," Jolee said. "Good musicians, though. And they never rampage."

Indy watched the zombies for a moment or two before letting out a little sigh.

"Yeah. I think you better give me the bottle."

"They're pretty friendly once you get to know them," Jolee said as the bottle came over via Tino. "Oh, sure, their conversation is pretty much all on one topic: Brains this, and brains that. But still, they have more to say than your average teenager."
