"Prince Oscar Pedro Neko-kun the Third," Chad grunted, trying not to sound too upset as he reprimanded the cat. "Would you leave those poor skunks alone already?"

A scratchy meow emerged from a pile of black and white fur, a Prince Oscar Pedro buried underneath a pile of overly affectionate skunks who were having a giggling debate over just how much like sandpaper the hairless cat's skin was or was not like. He really wanted to know where Chad was getting the idea that it was he who needed to leave the skunks alone and not the other way around.

Eventually, he'd manage to escape them, narrowly missing getting sprayed as he darted quickly for shelter under the shelves, but the skunks stumbled after him. "Come ba'ack, kitty!" the leader of the skunk crew hiccupped, and the others giggled. "We wanna find you some fuuuuur!"

Chad shook his head slightly; even if the skunks were cute, he had to admit to feeling glad to have had plenty of coffee this morning.

Who is really, really hoping there isn't any drunken spraying. He didn't want to deal with a skunked cat.

Hurley found his way into the store, mainly due to drunk skunk dodging. Which was kinda tricky for him.

"Oh, uhhhh. Hi dude," he said. "I, okay, I didn't come here because of the sign in the window? But I kinda, yeah. Hiring?"

"Hey," Chad lifted his chin in greeting to the guy, regrettably drawing his eyes away from the great skunk stumble. "And, yeah, we're hiring weekends, if you're interested."

"I might be a little behind on, like, popular music, though," Hurley said. "But yeah, I'm available weekends. There, like, an application I can fill out?"

"How behind is behind?" Chad asked, thinking that this guy looked much more modern than Alice, but one never knew. Still, it hadn't been a problem with her, and, besides, it was debatable as to whether or not most of the modern stuff was even worth it anyway. "Umm...there...might be?" Chad leaned to the side a little, as if checking under the desk, because, clearly, that would be the magical place to keep such things. "I don't know. I could check in Melody's office, but..."

"Like, about fourteen years?" Hurley said. "And... but what?"

"Fourteen years isn't bad at all," Chad said assuringly and then he shrugged, "it doesn't matter. Not right away, anyway. We can get that stuff dealt with tomorrow if you wanna come in and start then, or next week, if that's better for you."

"Dude. I'm hired already?" Hurley said.

"Sure, why not?" Chad shrugged. "Unless you planned on burning the place down or something."

And, even if he did, he was pretty sure they had a pretty good insurance policy against that.

"...yeah, no," Hurley said. "I can honestly say, I'm not, like, evil or cursed or anything."

Chad nodded. "But it would be okay," he said, "if you were."

He liked to seem to have an open mind about these sorts of things at times. Especially the cursed part; sometimes people could help that one.

"I'm Chad, by the way," he added, realizing they hadn't covered that and figuring it was kind of important. He held out his hand. "I'm the manager here."

Hurley shook Chad's hand. "I'm Hurley," he said. "I'm kinda, like, new in town."

"I figured," Chad said. "Been here as long as I have, you kind of get a vibe for the new kids. Where you coming in from, Hurley?"

"Santa Monica," Hurley said. "California."

"And you said 14 years behind, so...." Chad looked up a little as he did the math in his head, "1994, right?"

"Yeah," Hurley said. "That's it exactly, man."

"Is it a real trip?" Chad asked. "I mean, fourteen years isn't so bad compared to some, but I bet it's still gotta be a little weird."

"It kinda is?" Hurley said. "But I'm dealing."

Just watch out for terrified naked cats and liquored up skunks.

Also, where the hell did my morning go? I WANT IT BACK.

Absolutely! You'll just have to forgive any slowness on my end of things today. :)
