Turtle & Canary; Saturday [ 09/13 ]

Turtle was a very busy girl today. She came into the store early to make sure she could get all her technical things finished, leaving her with plenty of time to attack the task she'd been looking forward to completing. It was much more efficient to do it at work, too, when she didn't have to worry about Jeff's awful dog drooling on her posters or Jeff accidentally getting jam on them. There was plenty of room to spread out her materials all over the counter to work on between customers and all the supplies she could ever need were just a stone's throw away in Aisle Handwavey.

Campaign posters. The crux of any good run for student council.

Well, besides your platform, but what good were the things you stood for if people didn't even know who you were?

Plenty of red, white, and blue, enough glitter to make any true Fandomite proud, and a driven determination. What more could you want in your candidate's campaign poster?

No, seriously, what? Turtle needed to know if she planned on making sure she could stand for it and be your girl for junior representative!

Today's Squishy flavors: Red, White, and Grape Judas

Turtle & Canary is open!

Dor wandered into the store. After talking with Turtle in class the other day he figured he should at least check out her store. Luckily the streets knew the way and guided him there without a problem.

"Hi, Turtle," he said with a wave. "Got an art project going?"

"Is that what Mr. Petrelli was talking about in class?" Dor asked as he tilted his head and looked at the poster with a somewhat baffled look. "I'm not sure how this whole voting thing is supposed to work."

"No, we have a king," Dor replied hoping he wouldn't have to get into too much detail. "And he's usually selected based on the strength of his magical talent."

"And as a junior you want my vote," Dor said shrewdly. "Which of course leads to the next question for myself which is what exactly would my vote get me?"

"And how does that effect me exactly?" Dor asked seriously. "How would I benefit?"

Dor smirked. There were aspects of Turtle that reminded him of Irene.

Not the hair of course.

"Well you've sold me," he said with a grin. "You have my vote. But only if you tell me more about this America place."

After all if he was going to school in Mundania he better learn more about it.

"Well... what does it look like?" Dor asked trying to think of questions. "And how big is it exactly?"

Dor tilted his head at it trying to get an idea of the scale.

"Just how big is-"

And then he paused as he looked at a particular state.

"What's that?!" he shouted poking at Florida.

"I'm a map!" the atlas replied. "Watch that finger buddy."

Dor boggled at the state and then the rest of the map and then at Turtle and then back at the state.

"That's Xanth!" he croaked. "That's my world. It's not connected or anything like your world but that it!"

"No!" Dor replied peering closely at the map. "It's Xanth! Or at least it looks almost exactly like it."

He peered even closer. "Except it doesn't those weird lines on it."

"Those are roads dimwit," the map replied. "And it's not Xanth. The broad is right. It's Florida. Has been for centuries."

"I'm not saying there's no Florida," Dor replied. "I'm just saying Xanth is... Well. I don't know. It's just my world and it looks the same."

"I guess so," Dor reaching out to take the atlas. "Though there doesn't appear to be any jungles, forests or moutains on it."

"Book do you have any pictures of Xanth?" Dor queried. "I'd just like to compare."

"Pal this is America," the Atlas replied. "I'm an American atlas. Not an atlas for some foo-foo made up country."

"I guess not," Dor said glumly as he wondered if King Trent and Humphrey were aware of this Floor-ida.

"Sorry," Dor said to Turtle. "Didn't mean to freak out on you."

"I'm not sure how good that will do," Dor said with a frown. "Xanth geography changes so rapidly a map is a hard thing to keep up to date. It was a silly question to ask."
