Town Hall, Thursday Afternoon

Mayor Summers and Principal Winchester stood on the platform, the former crossing his arms and scowling somewhat at the back of the room. When he got up to the stand, though, that wore off.

"Welcome," he said, once everyone had entered, "I'd rather have had my first town meeting on more of an up note, but that's not in the cards. You might have noticed the arrival of another island off our shores. They aren't friendlies. Stay away from the island to the best of your ability. Don't pick fights unless you have to." He scraped his throat. "They are currently trying to hold us hostage. We're not going to let that happen."

He nodded at Zoe. "Principal Winchester?"

Zoe was trying to keep her expression neutral, in the hope that if she stayed calm, everyone else would as well. "The inhabitants of the other island want this one as their own, and their leaders have come up with a...plan of sorts for deciding who gets to stay. It's a tournament, us versus them, with chosen fighters from each side."

"After careful consideration," she said, glancing at Cable before looking back to the crowd, "we have decided that agreeing to their request is the best course of action."

"You'll find the list of chosen fighters at the door," Cable continued, fluidly, his face set as impassive as it got-- which was pretty much totally. "But have faith-- no matter how this tournament goes, they're not going to take this island, and you'll hear from us again soon enough."

After making sure things were secure at the school, Fraser made his way down to town hall, still in uniform.

There was a foul, stale odor coming from underneath a chair in the back. Possibly, it had been there a while.

The island had moved again, and the fact that the leaders had wanted them all at the town hall in its wake was enough to spark Ender's curiosity.

He arrived on his own, sat down, and said nothing during the entire performance. He felt some weight sinking into his stomach again, except it seemed to be happening to someone else entirely.

Roy wasn't in a too best of a mood when he got to the town hall. The troopers were on full alert now and he'd left the station in Ralph's hands, but after what had happened to Dale, he wasn't taking chances. His radio was on and he was trying to keep up to speed with everything going on as he waited.

Altra led Karal into the Town Hall, both of them quiet, and they quickly found seats off to the side.

Romeo slipped into the back of the meeting, curious. This all had him very nervous.

Momoko made her way into the hall and took a seat. She even had a notebook with her since it was an official TOWN HALL meeting. Ms Bellum would be so proud.

Jack arrived, wondering what in the heck was going on here.

Dick arrived purely as an interested citizen. It's not as if he was going to try to check anything out after hearing what was going on. Not at all.

It was a town meeting. That meant that the resident cranky old man had to be there in case there was something to crank about. It was his duty.

Karal drew in a deep breath, settling one hand on Altra's back as Cable spoke. Was this why Gabriel had left when he had?

Altra's tail lashed, and he let out a low hiss. :If it was, he could have warned us.:

If Blair was surprised to be chosen it was only because she'd had a lifetime of "Serena Van Der Woodsen" being the name that was usually called out before hers. But this was Fandom, there was no Serena, and Blair couldn't wait to destroy her competition.

There was a tournament? Jack would step up to defend his friends, if need be.

... Yeah, Dick was going to have to check the neighbor island out. It was his duty as the Boy Wonder.

That was all? Jolee wasn't sure why he even wandered out of the woods for this. He got up and started to make his way back to his hut. He would just avoid the whole thing like usual and everything would be fine.

At first, Jenny was a bit wary.

Then she got a good look at the list.

Jenny would be happy to defend the town's sovereignty, honor, and anything else anyone wanted her to defend by drinking heavily!

Fraser guessed that it couldn't have stayed quiet and calm for too long. And he had just been getting used to it too.

Teyla was surprised to see her own name on the list, and was thinking about what kind of fighting she might have to take part in.

Just as long as it isn't the doublemint twins.

Because that would be truly scary.
