Caritas, Wednesday 9/24

Penelope was at work, on time, and kept herself entertained by wiping down the countertop and stacking glasses. She occasionally sipped beer from a straw and chatted at Tino who more or less just stood there, listening with a nod every now and then. He didn't have much to contribute to stories about plants.

Caritas is open!

Hurley entered and sat at the bar.

This was so weird. He was a minor, after all.

"Good evening, Hurley," Penelope greeted him with a smile. "What may I get you?"

"Heeeey Penelope," Hurley said. "Told ya I'd come visit ya at work."

"Yes, you did, and I'm pleased to see you kept your word," she replied with a soft giggle.

"So yeah, like... I'll just take a coke, I guess. That would be awesome."

"Coming right up," she said and got his Coke for him. She set the cold glass on a napkin in front of him and scooted close a bowl of pretzels. "Tell me how you've been since we last spoke."

"Oh, pretty good," Hurley said. "I kinda missed the whole... thing this weekend? I had to go home and help my mom deal with my dumbass brother."

"I missed it too, but only because I pretty much kept to my room. Other than the sex talk on the boardwalk," she paused, took a sip of her drink through her straw. "Your brother is a dumbass?"

"The what?" Hurley said, snorting coke through his nose.

"Hey little sis!" Toby greeted Penelope brightly. "How's the job thing going?" He'd been meaning to stop by after he'd reported her working here, like two weeks in a row.

"Toby! Good evening!" she smiled warmly. "It's going just fine. There's dead people here that play music."

"Dead people?" Toby looked around and spotted the zombies. "Oh my god, I just thought they had like, really bad skin disease."

Penelope seemed to ponder that while her eyes narrowed slightly in thought, studying the band. "If that's true, they aren't in any pain and evidently it's not contagious."

"Dude, that's so freaky..." Toby was just going to stare for a moment.

Penelope just stared at Toby, and grinned. "Can I get you anything to drink, brother?" she asked, giggling softly at that.

"Oh, um, yeah, totally," Toby said, refocusing his attention on Penelope. "Can I get a pina colada with extra cherries." The cherries were akin to dinner.

"Coming right up," she said cheerfully before she glanced over at Tino and watched him make the drink. He did roll his eyes as he stuck extra cherries in it, however. Gratefully, she took the glass and set it before Toby on a napkin. "I'm still learning so Tino helps me."

Toby smirked a little in Tino's direction as he bit a cherry delicately off the stem. "Thanks! You know, I was a bartender back home. Our setup was a little different. No dead people."

Actually, I think it melted it before I saw that. I have an aversion to the word cute and squeeling like a psychotic fan girl. Melting => squeeling.
