Monthly Market - The Park, Saturday Afternoon

After a morning of busywork about the place, the park had been set up with several booths for the vendors that were soon to arrive. There were places to mingle, there were places to shop, and there was probably somewhere quiet left somewhere around the grounds, too. Fandom's Monthly Market had opened again.

Occasionally, one could see Cable quietly moving about the premises.

[ please wait for massive ocd up! ]

Viki had to admit that she wasn't not entirely sure about being at a booth rather than the hotel this afternoon, as it was a break in the routine of things and wasn't that odd?

Then she had to stop and contemplate if she ought to be worried that she had a routine here, because routines never ended well for her and next thing, just as she got more comfortable into one she'd wind up somewhere else.

The pastries were cute though, and the tea was delicious today so she set it all out and tried out a smile for anyone passing by.

[Viki is manning the booth with permission from Mary's player!]

Re: Booth: Kirk's Christmas Ornament Emporium

[identity profile] humankirk.livejournal.com 2008-09-27 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Another market, another trip to the weird little place where Rory graduated high school.

Kirk's booth was set up to display a wide variety of homemade Christmas ornaments ("It's Never Too Early To Be Prepared for Christmas", the sign at his booth declared). The ornaments were, of course, handmade by Kirk. The selection included asymmetrical gingerbread men, glass balls that weren't actually glass balls at all but racquetballs with hooks in them (it was more cost effective to buy and paint racquetballs than it was to learn how to blow glass), a wide variety of lifesize papier-mâché animal heads (several cats, a few small dogs, three kinds of fish, and, for some reason, a moose), and wallet-size photos of Kirk himself with hooks through them. And that was just the start of it.

Clearly, he had worked very hard on these ornaments. Others might debate whether it was time well spent. Kirk just felt like it was time to make a sale.

[OOC: I'll be afk for a couple hours in the early afternoon. Otherwise, Kirk's around. Again.]

Silk finally found his booth, and began unloading all manner of curios, knick knacks and statuary and jewelry from his packs, setting them up on the table. This was a strange land he'd found himself in. Some brisk trade would no doubt help him get the lay of the land.

"Good gentles all, come right up and see what I have to offer! The finest goods from exotic locales! I promise you, you will find nothing like these items anywhere else!"

[Goods are moddable, or if you have no idea, Silk, I mean Radek, will be happy to make some suggestions.]

While Grace was still upset about both her husband's and James' insistence in not bringing little Sunny (she would have looked adorable in her little Chinese dress serving out the sample), she was never one to seize an opportunity for herself. Almost chomping at the bit to get to people to tell them about the restaurant and try the samples and get their thoughts on the matter, she was ready to go with a platter full of spring rolls, egg roles, crab macau, and the very experimental bits of soy sauce burgers and sweet'n'sour french freedom fries.

And looking out for her daughter, while hoping terribly she didn't run into her daughter's awful boyfriend.

Meanwhile, the surly man actually making the samples didn't seem to care less. James ignored Grace's constant goading to smile a little, it won't kill you! It might kill him! Who knew around this place, especially with that little brat daughter of her running around. Sunset Towers had been much more peaceful without her, and he preferred it that way.

He was around, though, to 'interact' on Grace's insistence.

Claudia was extremely cheerful as she sat in her booth. She had put out a few different paintings, pottery pieces, jewelery and some of the different pieces of hand made clothing that she was looking at selling. She had also taken the initiative of putting out her portfolio to show the different types of art that she could make, she was always willing to do commissions.

Eleanor set up all of the wares (http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/lttledvl_photos/fandom%20murdock/shelf.jpg) she'd brought with her. There was an assortment of perfumes (http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/lttledvl_photos/fandom%20murdock/2863847647_08e0bb28ec.jpg), sprays (http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/lttledvl_photos/fandom%20murdock/spray.jpg), oils (http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/lttledvl_photos/fandom%20murdock/2864681564_8bb5199859.jpg), and a few essentials (http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/lttledvl_photos/fandom%20murdock/imp.jpg), the latter which Sarah had instructed Eleanor to only sell to those who knew what to use them for.

Once she had everything laid out, Eleanor settled into a chair behind the booth and read over one of her favorite books.

Never such a thing as too much cake, Momoko wandered over to the JGOB booth and procured a slice of the Black Forest Torte.

It may be almost October, but it was still fairly warm out.

Angela was making the most of this by ordering an ice cream cone. Mint chocolate. Very mmm.

Eleanor had decided that a bit of a break was in order, so wandered about the market a bit. She stopped when she spotted the ice cream.

Actual ice cream! It was so hard to come by at home. She couldn't resist getting a small cup of chocolate.

After some time of roaming from booth to booth, Penelope found an out of the way chair and sat down with a large hot chocolate with lots of mini-marshmallows in it. It was a lovely day and she didn't really mind venturing out alone, experiencing things for the very first time.

After walking about the market and picking up a few things, G'Kar sat down with a coffee and a pastry from the JGOB booth.

He pulled out one of his journals and began writing a few things down.
